IBM Consulting is seeking a Data Security Lead to help clients design and implement enterprise data security strategies, drive compliance, and enable secure digital transformation for clients. This role combines deep technical expertise with consulting leadership to deliver high-value outcomes for industrial clients. This role requires strong leadership in Zero Trust architectures, Data Loss Prevention (DLP), AI-driven data protection, and compliance frameworks.

Your role and responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop enterprise data security strategies and roadmaps, including target operating models and security in data governance.
  • Identify fit-for-purpose solutions for standard data security use cases (e.g., DLP, CASB, data discovery and classification, DSPM, digital rights management).
  • Collaborate with solution partners to create IBM points of view, assets, and accelerators.
  • Build capabilities to implement enterprise data security solutions (e.g., Microsoft Purview, Varonis, Palo Alto, Cyera).
  • Act as a recognized thought leader through conferences, white papers, and client presentations to showcase IBM credentials.
  • Shape the emerging model of the Data Security Practice and drive innovation.
  • Provide practice leadership by fostering a community of practitioners for knowledge sharing and growth.
  • Deliver complex consulting projects successfully, ensuring scope, timelines, and quality standards are met.
  • Lead projects and ensure client satisfaction.

Required technical and professional expertise

  • Enterprise Data Security Strategy - Design and implement security strategies and roadmaps for large-scale organizations.
  • Data Governance & Operating Models - Expertise in building target operating models and embedding security in governance frameworks.
  • Security Solutions Expertise - Hands-on experience with DLP, CASB, data discovery and classification, and DSPM. Working knowledge of PKI, Encryption and CLI.
  • Technology Enablement - Proficiency in tools such as Microsoft Purview, Varonis, Palo Alto, Cyera.
  • Cloud Security - Knowledge of secure cloud architectures.
  • Compliance & Risk Management - Familiarity with regulatory frameworks (GDPR, SOX, HIPAA) and risk assessment methodologies.
  • Consulting Mindset - Translate technical solutions into business value and communicate effectively with executives.
  • Leadership & Team Management - Lead cross-functional teams and mentor junior consultants.
  • Client Relationship Management - Build trust and maintain strong client relationships through clear communication and delivery excellence.
  • Problem-Solving - Proactive approach to identifying issues and implementing innovative solutions.
  • Collaboration & Influence - Work seamlessly with internal teams and external partners to drive outcomes.
  • Thought Leadership - Represent IBM at conferences, publish white papers, and contribute to industry discussions.

Preferred technical and professional experience

  • 10+ years in cybersecurity with at least 5 years in consulting.
  • Proven success in consulting engagements.
  • Certifications: CISSP, CISM, or equivalent

The compensation range and benefits for this position are based on a full-time schedule for a full calendar year. The salary will vary depending on your job-related skills, experience and location. Pay increment and frequency of pay will be in accordance with employment classification and applicable laws. For part time roles, your compensation and benefits will be adjusted to reflect your hours. Benefits may be pro-rated for those who start working during the calendar year.
