Job Description Tableau Developer (Finance BI & Analytics)

Location: Boston, MA (Hybrid)

Duration: Long term

1. Enterprise Tableau Dashboard & Financial BI Solution Development

Design and develop enterprise-grade Tableau dashboards using advanced capabilities such as Level of Detail (LOD) expressions, parameter actions, Tableau Prep flows, dynamic zone visibility, viz-in-tooltip, and multi-grain modeling.
Build sophisticated financial analytics dashboards including P&L reporting, profitability models, cost allocation frameworks, variance analysis, revenue waterfalls, cash-flow trends, and forecasting visualizations.
Develop reusable and governed Tableau Data Models and Published Data Sources with standardized fields, hierarchies, metadata, and certified financial metrics.

2. Visualization Engineering & Performance Optimization

Apply advanced Tableau performance optimization techniques:

Extract vs. Live strategy tuning
Query pushdown and efficient SQL design
Awareness of indexing/partitioning in underlying data warehouses
Reducing LOD overhead to improve query execution
Understanding of Tableau query fusion
Optimization of joins, blends, filters, and aggregation paths

Build highly interactive dashboards that can handle millions of financial records with sub-second performance across enterprise users.

3. Data Pipeline Engineering & Financial Data Modeling

Design scalable data models aligned to Finance use cases, including:

Star and Snowflake schemas
Slowly Changing Dimensions (SCDs)
Multi-grain fact models for financial statements and budgets
Semantic layers to support standardized financial reporting

Develop automated data pipelines using SQL, Python, Alteryx, Tableau Prep, or cloud-based ETL tools to ensure accurate, timely, and reconciled financial data flows.
