Title: Director of Engineering (Payments)
Location: Remote (PT)
Duration: 6+ momnths contract to hire
Compensation: $95-105/hr.

Location: Remote, but Los Angeles would be a preference
The Director thrives in a fast-paced environment and embraces technology to solve business problems in a high-volume, high-scalability environment.
Lead the engineering teams for the Payments vertical and ensure that projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
Build strong relationships with multiple stakeholders and dependency teams and drive alignment towards the roadmap and deliverables.
Work with remote engineering teams located across the globe and inspire the teams to deliver on the mission.
Participate in sales calls and pre-deal discussions with prospective clients. Be willing to travel occasionally for client meetings.
Participate in architecture and solution design, mentoring engineers, exploring frameworks, toolsets or processes to improve the team's productivity and be accountable for quality software delivery.
Identify and groom the leaders on the team and mentor them to be self starters and independent.
Work closely with product & other non-technical staff, participate in code reviews, work with QA to review test plans, and oversee software development using Agile methodologies.
Deliver projects that vary in scope from zero-to-launch in a short time to long-running roadmap projects that the team continuously iterates on.
Continuously improve and uplevel the team, its deliverables and its processes.
Contribute to the development of the product roadmap to prioritize features/projects to ensure that they deliver the highest value at the best time.
Clearly communicate project status and risks to project stakeholders and senior leadership team members
Research and make recommendations on software products and services in support of procurement and development efforts
Manage resources within budget, both full time and staff augmentation and adapt budget accordingly based on changing company priorities
10+ years of software engineering experience, building products at web-scale.
4+ years of management experience and proven ability to lead a team through the full life cycle of software development
Experience working in a distributed systems environment with microservices and micro-frontends.
Experience working with legacy systems and platform migration efforts.
Experience working in a cloud based infrastructure.
Strong technical skills in full stack software development across a wide variety of tech stacks.
Experience working with the Payments industry, payments gateways or integrating with Payment providers would be a strong advantage.
Experience working in sales-driven organizations or solutions engineering organizations would be a strong advantage.
Experience with agile development methodologies and project management tools such as JIRA.
Sufficient experience to review and understand code using React, GraphQL and Java
Ability to meet commitments and multitask in a fast-paced work environmen
Must be a great Team Player and people manager, exhibiting a positive attitude
Ability to own and manage multiple concurrent projects, including presenting and negotiating with stakeholders on the interdependencies and possibilities of what can be realistically delivered
Expert at spotting talent and passionate about growing world class engineers on your team.
Experience building services or applications where performance is an important consideration.
Things that are easy at low scale can be incredibly challenging at scale so experience with performance tuning and optimizations is extremely valuable.
