Minimum Requirements:
12+ years hands-on experience in Java and Java EE development, including EJB, JPA, and SOAP-based services.
12+ years proficiency in Java SE 1.8 and Java EE 8, including deployment on enterprise-grade application servers.
12+ years experience with object-relational mapping and integrating persistence layers with business logic.
10+ years ability to work with cross-functional teams (architects, BAs, security engineers).
8+ years experience with AI code analysis tools for static analysis and pattern recognition.
8+ years familiarity with DevSecOps practices (automated testing, deployment, monitoring).
8+ years exposure to cloud-native transformation strategies (containerization, elastic scaling, loosely coupled interfaces).
8+ years experience working in Agile environments (sprint planning, backlog refinement).
8+ years strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
2+ years experience using AI development tools.
Preferred Experience:
6+ years excellent communication and collaboration skills.
6+ years experience with requirement elicitation and documentation.
Familiarity with software design principles and patterns.
Experience with modernization projects in government or healthcare environments is a plus.
Summary:
Contribute to the design, development, and deployment of enterprise-grade applications using Java EE technologies.
Analyze legacy Java EE components and support modernization efforts aligned with HHSC's goals of modularity, security, and interoperability.
Collaborate with architects, business analysts, and technical teams to ensure successful migration to cloud-native platforms.
Responsibilities:
Analyze legacy Java EE components (EJB, JPA, SOAP services) to support architectural decisions.
Participate in application rationalization and transformation planning.
Support technical walkthroughs and documentation of current application behavior, dependencies, and integration points.
Collaborate with architects and business analysts to retain core business logic during modernization.
Assist in migrating legacy systems to cloud-native platforms using microservices and API-driven architectures.
Utilize AI code analysis tools for examining legacy Java EE applications.
Extract and document detailed business requirements and rules based on existing code.
Validate and adjust requirements with business stakeholders and technical teams.
Identify and record technical debt, design patterns, and architectural details within legacy systems.
