A Junior Data Engineer is an entry-level data professional (0 18 months of experience) responsible for designing, building, and maintaining data pipelines and systems. They collaborate with Product Owners, Data Analysts, and business stakeholders to ensure data is accessible, reliable, and high quality. Junior Data Engineers typically work under the guidance of experienced engineers as they develop their skills.
Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Entry-Level Data Engineer to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will assist with gathering requirements, curating data elements, and documenting data lineage within designated data repositories. This position offers an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in data engineering and work closely with seasoned professionals in a collaborative environment.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Curate data elements and document data lineage
Manage data storage and ensure data quality
Build and maintain data pipelines and ETL processes to move data between cloud-based platforms and on-premises sources
Collaborate with Product Owners and Analysts to understand business requirements and deliver data solutions
Write scripts and code to automate data processes
Develop and maintain data models and transformation logic using dbt in cloud or on-prem environments
Participate in Agile ceremonies and contribute to sprint planning and reviews
Requirements and Qualifications:
Strong problem-solving and communication skills
Proficiency in at least one programming language (Python preferred; Java, etc.)
Knowledge of SQL
Eagerness to learn and grow in a collaborative environment
Familiarity with GitHub
Nice-to-Have Skills:
In-depth understanding of commonly used databases, data warehousing concepts, and ETL technologies (e.g., DataStage, dbt, Snowflake, AWS)
Microsoft s Power Platform (Power Bi & Power Apps)
Understanding of big data concepts (data curation, data lineage, data mesh, etc.)
Experience with cloud platforms (Snowflake, AWS, etc.)
