Role: Sr. AWS Cloud Infrastructure Engineer

As a Sr. Cloud Engineer, you will support the Infrastructure & Operations (I&O) teams in implementing and operationalizing cloud-native infrastructure solutions in AWS. The Cloud Engineering team, part of I&O, builds reusable Terraform modules to ensure security and compliance, provides self-service offerings that enable teams to deploy infrastructure in a governed way, and supports the stability and reliability of the enterprise cloud platform. You possess deep technical expertise in AWS and Terraform Cloud with proven ability to write production-grade infrastructure as code, develop reusable Terraform modules, and drive complex cloud infrastructure projects to completion. You will participate in design discussions, implement infrastructure solutions, and provide hands-on technical support to internal customers.
Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and maintain reusable Terraform modules following best practices and HashiCorp module standards
- Implement cloud infrastructure solutions using Terraform Cloud and AWS services adhering to infrastructure as code principles
- Write, test, validate, and peer-review Terraform code ensuring quality, security, and maintainability
- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions and Octopus Deploy for infrastructure automation
- Participate in design discussions and technical planning sessions with architects and engineering teams
- Provide technical support and guidance to internal customers on infrastructure implementation and troubleshooting
- Collaborate with application teams and stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical infrastructure solutions
- Operationalize cloud platforms for operational excellence, security, reliability, performance, cost optimization, and resiliency through AWS Well-Architected Framework
- Implement monitoring, logging, and alerting solutions for cloud infrastructure
- Identify and resolve infrastructure issues, performance bottlenecks, and security vulnerabilities
- Participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies including sprint planning, daily standups, backlog grooming, and retrospectives in JIRA
- Drive infrastructure projects from inception to completion, ensuring timely delivery and quality standards
- Document infrastructure architecture, runbooks, and technical procedures
- Stay current with AWS services, Terraform features, and cloud infrastructure best practices
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree or technical institute degree/certificate or equivalent work experience
- 5+ years of relevant experience in cloud infrastructure engineering
- 3+ years of hands-on experience with AWS cloud services and architecture
- 3+ years of production experience with Terraform and infrastructure as code
- Proven experience developing reusable Terraform modules with proper versioning and documentation
- Strong expertise with Terraform Cloud including workspaces, state management, and remote execution
- Experience with CI/CD tools: GitHub Actions and Octopus Deploy
- Strong understanding of AWS services including VPC, EC2, ECS/EKS, Lambda, RDS, S3, IAM, CloudWatch
- Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies and JIRA
- Proficiency with version control systems (Git) and GitOps workflows
- Strong scripting skills: Python, Bash, or PowerShell
- Experience with Linux and Windows operating systems
- Understanding of networking concepts: VPCs, subnets, security groups, load balancers, DNS
- Knowledge of security best practices and compliance requirements in cloud environments
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently and drive projects to completion
Preferences:
- AWS Certified Solutions Architect Professional
- HashiCorp Certified: Terraform Associate or Professional
- Experience with AWS Account Factory for Terraform (AFT)
- Experience with containerization technologies: Docker, ECS, EKS, Kubernetes
- Experience with configuration management tools: Ansible, Chef, Puppet
- Knowledge of serverless architecture and AWS Lambda
- Experience with monitoring and observability tools: CloudWatch, Datadog, New Relic
- Familiarity with database technologies: PostgreSQL, MySQL, DynamoDB
- Experience with cloud migration projects
- Background in software development or DevOps engineering
- Experience with cost optimization and FinOps practices
- Knowledge of security scanning tools and vulnerability management
