Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Business Systems Analyst to provide ongoing maintenance, enhancement, and support for critical Infectious Disease applications, including MDSS, MSSS, DQT to HESB migration, LHD Connect, and other related systems.
This role is essential to ensuring the reliability, security, and compliance of MDHHS automated processes. The selected candidate will play a key leadership role in streamlining business processes, maintaining data integrity, ensuring SEM/SUITE compliance
Key Responsibilities
Functional & Business Analysis
- Develop high-level and detailed functional requirements and specifications
- Conduct business and gap analysis to translate business needs into clear system requirements
- Write functional design documents and facilitate stakeholder reviews and approvals
- Develop user stories, task breakdowns, and documentation for Agile projects
- Create prototypes, mockups, flowcharts, and screen layouts to validate requirements
Application Development & SDLC
- Participate in the full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) for complex applications
- Support large-scale Agile development initiatives
- Assist with Enterprise Architecture Solution Assessments (EASA), hosting documentation, and firewall rule requests
- Ensure solutions align with State of Michigan standard technologies
- Draft and support Local Change Board (LCB) documentation
Testing & Quality Assurance
- Design, develop, and execute test plans, test cases, and test data
- Coordinate UAT, post-implementation testing, and defect resolution
- Develop test reports and metrics and collaborate with business users
- Differentiate between defects and new enhancement requests
- Maintain defect tracking logs and support RFC implementations
Production Support & Documentation
- Provide ongoing application monitoring and production support, including peak usage periods
- Assist users through issue resolution, testing, and troubleshooting
- Maintain and update system documentation following upgrades or changes
- Develop training materials and user manuals
Leadership & Oversight
- Provide application oversight and guidance to business analysts supporting MDSS, MSSS, and related systems
- Support cross-functional collaboration to ensure timely and successful project delivery
Required Skills & Experience
- Strong experience in business systems analysis and application support
- Proven ability to work on large, complex Agile projects
- Hands-on experience with requirements gathering, functional documentation, and SDLC
- Experience supporting testing, UAT, production support, and change management
- Excellent communication, documentation, and stakeholder engagement skills
