Summary
Seeking a highly analytical and forward-thinking Data Scientist to join our team in The Woodlands, TX. This role involves partnering with the Financial Planning, Analysis & Performance Optimization group and collaborating closely with IT to convert complex datasets into actionable insights. You'll play a key role in driving data-driven strategies that enhance operational efficiency and business performance. Minimal travel is required. Responsibilities
Data Analysis & Insights
- Examine large datasets to uncover patterns, inefficiencies, and improvement opportunities.
- Deliver recommendations that enhance financial and operational outcomes.
Model Development & Deployment
- Build and implement predictive models and machine learning algorithms aligned with business goals.
- Utilize scalable analytics platforms such as Databricks for data processing.
Data Integration
- Work with IT and cross-functional teams to embed data solutions into existing systems and workflows.
Reporting & Visualization
- Create and maintain dashboards and reports to communicate insights to stakeholders.
Data/AI Strategy & Roadmap
- Identify potential AI applications and contribute to shaping long-term data science and AI initiatives.
- Stay informed on emerging technologies and industry trends to strengthen data capabilities.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or related discipline.
- 3+ years of professional experience in data science roles.
- Proven track record in developing and deploying data science solutions, including areas such as segmentation, pricing, optimization, and experimentation.
- Strong technical expertise in:
- Analytical methods: Statistical modeling (e.g., linear regression, GLMs, time series), supervised machine learning (e.g., random forests), experimental design, clustering, optimization techniques.
- Tools: SQL for data wrangling, Git for version control, Python for modeling, Spark/PySpark for processing, Tableau for visualization.
- Platforms: Databricks for analytics, AWS Glue for pipeline development.
- Experience creating production-ready models with robust scripting, error handling, and documentation.
- Demonstrated ability to influence P&L through data-driven insights.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and a proactive approach.
- Strong communication skills for translating technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
- Effective collaboration with IT and other business units.
- Bonus: Familiarity with Pigment or similar planning tools.
