Senior Compliance Manager- Sanctions

Job Title: Sr. Sanctions Compliance Manager Key Responsibilities

• Building out Sanctions Policies and Procedures: Develop, enhance, and maintain comprehensive global sanctions compliance policies, standards, and operating procedures in alignment with international regulations, including those from the US Department of the Treasury's Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), the UN, and the EU.
• Risk Assessment: Lead the periodic and ad-hoc sanctions risk assessments, identifying potential vulnerabilities in new products, services, customer types, and geographic markets. The manager will use the findings to recommend changes to the compliance program and control environment.
• Standard Setting and Control Enhancement: Drive the enhancement of sanctions controls, such as sanctions screening and transaction monitoring systems. This involves translating complex regulatory requirements into clear product requirements and screening logic for engineering and product teams.
• Advisory and Guidance: Serve as a subject matter expert (SME) on sanctions for internal stakeholders
• Regulatory Reporting and Audits: Act as a primary liaison during internal and external audits and regulatory examinations. Responsibilities include preparing and filing necessary reports (e.g., OFAC blocked property reports) and managing the remediation of any identified issues.
• Training and Mentorship: Develop and deliver targeted sanctions compliance training programs for various teams across the organization and mentor junior analysts.
• Data and Metrics: Utilize data and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness of sanctions controls, monitor metrics, and report on sanctions compliance trends and risks to senior management via dashboards.

Required Qualifications & Skills

• Experience: Significant, progressive experience (typically 5+ years) in sanctions compliance or financial crime compliance within a financial institution, fintech, or regulatory body.
• Knowledge: Deep understanding of global sanctions regimes (OFAC, UN, EU, etc.) and experience with relevant screening tools and technology solutions.
• Skills: Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills, with the ability to manage complex projects and articulate regulatory obligations clearly to diverse audiences.
• Certifications: Advanced certifications such as a Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS) or Certified Global Sanctions Specialist (CGSS) are often preferred.
