As a
FLIGHT ENGINEER (INSTRUCTOR), GS-2185-10, you will instruct and perform flight crew work supporting UH 60A Black Hawk transport helicopter. Serve as instructor/flight examiner providing instruction, evaluation and examination on ground and operational training flights to develop and upgrade skills of aircrew members. Serve under the supervision of Chief, Training Operations, who provides general guidance on overall objectives to be achieved. Incumbent independently carries out work in accordance with existing guidance and established procedures depicted in operations manuals, safety directives, maintenance schedules orders and manuals, command directives and local operating procedures. Perform other duties as assigned.

- This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard.
- Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform.

- Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation.
- May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.
- Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.
- Must posses a valid Army medical flying status clearance
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance within one year of appointment.
QualificationsMilitary Grades: E2 through E7
Compatible Military Assignments: 15T or 68W
GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience which has provided the applicant with a knowledge of aircraft weight and balance computations; aircraft performance data; aircraft records maintenance; and aircraft systems.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Experience as an instructor/flight examiner providing instruction, evaluation and examination on ground and operational training flights to develop and upgrade skills of aircrew members. Applying knowledge of the full range of aircrew duties and responsibilities, methods of instruction and requirements of the program, performs standardization. currency, instrument, proficiency, tactical, emergency and special tasks evaluation flights. Experience assessing newly assigned individuals' level of experience and training through review of training records and/or proficiency flight evaluation to determine proficiency and skill status.
EducationPrefer a graduate of the US Army Non-rated crew member Flight Instructor/Standardization Instructor Course.
