Atlassian Engineer
Employment Type: 10-12 months (potential to convert to an FTE)

SUMMARY:
Our client is seeking a Atlassian Engineer who will own, administer, and configure Atlassian suite of products across their organization. This role will support that organizations project management workflows, storyboards, service management, and Agile processes and will play a key impact in their readiness, preparation, and migration to Atlassian Government Cloud (AGC). The ideal candidate will act as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Atlassian products (Jira Enterprise, Jira Service Management, & Confluence), ensuring optimal configuration and functionality while driving user adopting and supporting change management.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Own and administer Jira Enterprise for company-wide use.
- Configure Jira Cloud software, Jira Service Management (JSM), and related Jira modules (storyboards, epics, ticketing flows).
- Serve as the SME for Atlassian, providing guidance and best practices to stakeholders.
- Manage Confluence for documentation and knowledge management.
- Assist the migration from Jira Enterprise to Atlassian Government Cloud (AGC).
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand requirements and optimize Jira workflows.
- Offload configuration efforts from other teams into Jira.
- Ensure Jira supports Agile project management and ITSM processes.
- Stay informed on upcoming Jira features and rollouts; implement new capabilities as needed.
REQUIREMENTS SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum 4+ years of hands-on experience administering and configuring Atlassian products and Jira Enterprise.
- Ability to hit the ground running with Atlassian administration, configurations, and integrations.
- Hands-on experience with Jira Cloud & Enterprise, Jira Service Management (JSM), and Confluence.
- Skilled with Atlassian/Jira configurations, administration, and troubleshooting.
- Prior experience working on or leading end-to-end migrations of Atlassian/Jira, either from on-prem to cloud, data center to cloud, or cloud to cloud.
- Strong understanding of ITSM workflows within Jira Service Management.
- Deep knowledge of Agile and Scrum methodologies and frameworks
BONUS SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
- Experience with Atlassian Government Cloud (AGC) migrations.
- Experience working in a start-up/fast paced environment or in the aerospace, defense, or aviation industry.
- Knowledge of GitLab (used by development team) is a plus but not required.
- Certifications: Not required, but Atlassian or Jira related certifications would be desired
- Integration Knowledge: Limited scope for integrations post-Amigration; prior integration experience is not mandatory.
