Summary
Location: Houston, TX
Type: 6-month contract to hire
Onsite: Yes
Salary: DOE
Top 3 Skills:
Azure Cloud Administration, Infrastructure, Networking, cloud migration
The Role: We are looking for a hands-on IT Lead. We are in a high-growth phase with an ambitious roadmap to modernize, innovate, and scale. This is not a "desk job" managing vendors. You will be the primary technical resource for the company. One day you will be setting up hardware for a new hire; the next, you will be leading our transition from legacy systems to a fully cloud-native environment.
What You’ll Actually Do:
The Cloud Transition: Lead the migration of our remaining on-premise workloads to the cloud in Azure. You’ll be responsible for the architecture, the execution, and the long-term uptime of these environments.
Infrastructure Ownership: Design and maintain a secure, scalable network that connects our corporate office to our field assets.
The "Daily Grind": Provide white-glove support for our team. If an executive’s laptop fails or a field pumper can’t access their apps, you are the one who fixes it. No task is too small.
Security & Compliance: Actually implement the security controls (identity management, MFA, device encryption, patching). You will ensure we are audit-ready at all times.
Automation: Identify repetitive tasks, whether in user onboarding or data collection, and automate them so the business stays lean as we grow.
Technical Strategy: Work directly with leadership to ensure our tech stack supports our goal of being a data-driven, highly efficient operator.
Who You Are:
A "Full-Stack" IT Pro: You have a deep background in systems administration and cloud architecture, but you haven't lost your "help desk" heart.
The Architect: You know how to build a cloud environment that doesn't just work today, but is ready for a corporate transaction or acquisition.
Self-Sufficient: You don't need a manual. You can walk into a messy server room or a broken cloud configuration, figure out what’s wrong, and fix it.
Oil & Gas Experience: (Preferred) You understand that "field uptime" is just as important as "office uptime." You know how to talk to both engineers and field operators.
Technical Requirements:
Proven experience migrating companies from legacy/on-prem environments to the Cloud (Azure).
Expert-level knowledge of identity management and modern device management (MDM).
Strong understanding of networking, especially in remote or rugged environments.
Experience scripting (PowerShell, Python, etc.) to automate workflows.
