Position Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Systems Engineer to serve as a statewide expert platform administrator for an Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) ecosystem. This role supports critical data infrastructure across seven executive branch agencies, managing three distinct platforms (Production, Test, and Development/Disaster Recovery).
The successful candidate will define technical planning, coordinate long-term EDW strategies, and ensure the high performance and security of systems serving over 10,000 users.
Key Responsibilities
- Platform Administration: Manage Teradata node management, Viewpoint administration, and Tools and Utilities (TTU).
- System Maintenance: Lead vendor upgrades, software provisioning, and maintenance using scripting languages (BASH, Perl, Python, Glink).
- Performance & Monitoring: Oversee ecosystem health monitoring (PSIM), workload management, performance tuning, and resource optimization.
- Security & Compliance: Develop and maintain security plans in alignment with federal requirements (NIST 800-53, IRS Pub 1075, SSA, and Medicaid).
- Disaster Recovery: Lead backup and recovery strategies and advise agencies on disaster recovery planning.
- Strategic Planning: Research and coordinate technical implementations with management, vendors, and agency stakeholders.
Required Skills & Experience
Candidates must possess at least 3 years of experience in each of the following areas:
- Teradata Platform Admin: Database management, node management, and vendor upgrades.
- Monitoring & Observability: Ecosystem health monitoring and PSIM administration.
- Infrastructure & Cloud: Unix/Linux knowledge, firewall management, and cloud fundamentals (preferably MS Azure).
- Automation: Scripting in BASH, Perl, Python, or Glink.
- Data Operations: ETL (Extract Transform Load) and Teradata backup/recovery.
- Security: Handling audits and federal compliance (NIST, IRS, etc.).
- Communication: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills are mandatory.
