Site Reliability Engineer (SRE)

Introduction:

The Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) plays a crucial role in ensuring the reliability, performance, and availability of software systems. They act as a bridge between traditional IT operations and software development, bringing a software engineering approach to system administration.

Responsibilities:

• Creating and supporting automation scripts (shell/ansible/python) for infrastructure deployments, validations, and monitoring to improve operational tasks
• Scheduling monitoring scripts using cron and airflow
• Utilizing monitoring tools such as Dynatrace, Apica, and Grafana
• Handling databases
• Building CICD pipelines
• Incident handling and problem management

Requirements:

Required Skills:

• Experience in Ansible/Python
• Proficiency with monitoring tools - Dynatrace, Apica, Grafana

Preferred Skills:

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field
• 14+ years of IT Infrastructure experience
• Extensive experience with Linux flavors like RHEL/CentOS OS, shells, filesystems, and utilities
• Proficiency in programming languages like Python, Ansible
• Knowledge of distributed computing and experience with container orchestration frameworks including on-prem and Rancher Kubernetes
• Experience with Storage, preferably ONTAP
• Database knowledge including SQL and NoSQL DBs
• Experience building CICD pipelines
• Cloud platform knowledge (specifically AWS)
