Lead SDET – Automation Test Engineering ( Playwright)
We are seeking a Lead Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) to own test automation strategy and drive quality engineering across teams. This role requires deep expertise in Playwright-based UI automation, API testing, and CI/CD integration, along with the ability to lead framework design, influence engineering practices, and mentor SDETs in an Agile environment.
Key Responsibilities
Own and evolve the test automation architecture for UI and API testing
Design and maintain Playwright-based automation frameworks for modern web applications
Define automation standards, best practices, and quality gates across teams
Drive test strategy for UI, API, and mobile web layers
Integrate automation suites into CI/CD pipelines and deployment workflows
Partner closely with Engineering, Product, and DevOps to shift quality left
Lead root-cause analysis for test failures and flaky tests
Mentor and review work of SDETs; provide technical guidance and coaching
Ensure test coverage, reliability, and scalability across releases

Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or related field
10+ years of overall experience, with 8+ years in test automation
Demonstrated experience leading Playwright-based automation initiatives
Strong Java-based automation background (Selenium experience acceptable; Playwright preferred)
Proven expertise in API test automation
Hands-on experience integrating automation into CI/CD pipelines
Advanced SQL skills for large-scale data validation
Experience leading or mentoring SDETs
Strong debugging, design, and problem-solving skills
Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments
