Software Design Engineer 3

Position Summary: The purpose of this team is to manage Windows audio system certification tests for industry partners (IHVs and OEMs) to ensure compatibility with Windows and improve test content and debugging tools. This role will contribute to the ongoing release of the Windows 11 operating system and certification efforts for audio hardware and device drivers. The candidate will join a close-knit team driving industry-leading audio technologies across the Windows ecosystem to create delightful experiences for our customers and improve product reliability. Exposure to media and audio technologies, collaboration with major industry partners (Client, AMD, Dell, Lenovo, Client), and involvement in high-impact Windows certification processes. The main function of a Software Engineer is to design, develop, implement, test, and maintain business and computer applications software or specialised utility programs, including mainframe and client/server applications, and major enhancements of existing systems

Primary Responsibilities/Accountabilities:

• Fine-tune and improve a variety of sophisticated software implementation projects
• Gather and analyze system requirements, document specifications, and develop software solutions to meet client needs and data
• Analyze and review enhancement requests and specifications
• Implement system software and customise client requirements
• Prepare the detailed software specifications and test plans
• Code new programs to the client's specifications and create test data for testing
• Modify existing programs to new standards and conduct unit testing of developed programs
• Create migration packages for system testing, user testing, and implementation
• Provide quality assurance reviews
• Perform post-implementation validation of software and resolve any bugs found during testing
• Diagnosing failures reported by external partners and escalation engineers
• Creating test errata to overturn partner failures
• Making test content fixes and improvements
• Executing certification test passes
• Ensuring companies' audio drivers successfully pass certification
• The role will be focused on Audio HLK certification testing, which includes: The role will consist of approximately 40% investigating audio certification test failures reported by partners, 40% making test content fixes and improvements, and 20% improving internal tools to enhance debugging capabilities.

• A bachelor's degree in a technical field, such as computer science, computer engineering or a related field required
• 5-7 years of experience required
• A solid foundation in computer science, with strong competencies in data structures, algorithms, and software design
• Large systems software design and development experience
• Experience performing in-depth troubleshooting and unit testing with both new and legacy production systems
• Experience in programming and experience with problem diagnosis and resolution
• 3 years of C++ programming experience
• The ideal resume would contain advanced debugging experience on Windows and direct experience with audio or media technologies, in addition to the core hard skills.
• Minimum 3 years' experience with C++ programming.
• Minimum 3 years' experience with Windows device driver development.
• Minimum 4 years' experience with advanced debugging on Windows.
