Sr. Business Intelligence Engineer

As a Sr. Business Intelligence Engineer, you will be an individual contributor responsible for developing automation solutions for accounting business processes using Python. You will own technical design documentation, data security, automation development, and operational support for our entire automation portfolio.

Working collaboratively with Automation Program leadership, process optimization specialists, accounting process owners, subject matter experts, and system owners, you will deliver high-quality automation solutions. This role focuses on long-term business technology objectives and targeted outcomes by clarifying automation capabilities, assessing and mitigating security risks, ensuring platform scalability and stability, and providing best-in-class support services.

Additional responsibilities include internal control design and implementation, working with InfoSec and Fin-Sec teams to ensure Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliance.

Key Responsibilities

Development & Deployment

• Draft, review, and validate source-to-target mapping and logical data model design documentation
• Partner with stakeholders to review requirements, refine wireframes, and support UAT of new dashboard products
• Develop, test, and deploy changes to SQL logic, Glue jobs, and analytical reports for existing reports
• Develop, test, and deploy new Quick Suite reports and necessary SQL data transformations and Glue jobs for Kuiper Accounting
• Validate that physical data models meet business requirements in FAST, the Accounting Data Warehouse
• Utilize existing CI/CD framework (Contigo) for deployment management
• Meet weekly with engagement teams to provide status updates and track progress against key deliverables

Operational Excellence

• Maintain highest standards for automation project delivery, including comprehensive work intake management, portfolio prioritization, resource planning, and stakeholder alignment
• Maintain highest standards for service delivery, including systems analysis, procedure documentation, and incident response communication
• Maintain knowledge base of current best practices for accounting processes, applications, and financial reporting architecture
• Proactively identify risks and implement mitigation plans
• Synthesize business requirements with technology capabilities
• Dive deep, stay connected to details, and permanently resolve issues

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Finance, Accounting, or related field
• 5+ years of professional experience implementing and supporting Python solutions
• 3-5 years of experience in Data Analytics, ETL Development, Reporting, Data Integration, Process Automation, and Operations Delivery
• Experience working in fast-paced environments similar to high-tech startups with responsibility for leading direct reports and influencing teams in matrixed organizations
• Object-oriented programming experience in Python, Ruby, Java, or another high-level programming language
• Experience with AWS services including S3, RedShift, IAM Roles, EC2, Glue, SQS, API Gateway, and SNS
• Experience integrating applications with different relational databases and data extraction
• Experience using CI/CD pipelines to migrate code from lower environments to production
• Experience populating data from data warehouse systems and extracting data from AWS Redshift clusters
• Understanding of and experience using REST APIs
• Experience with distributed computing and enterprise-wide systems
• Solid systems and network troubleshooting experience
• Understanding of SQL and/or NoSQL databases
• Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills
• Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills
