Job Summary
We're seeking a hands-on Cloud Engineer with deep AWS expertise to design, build, and scale secure, cloud-native solutions powering IoT, real-time data processing, and AI/ML workloads. You'll architect microservices, serverless, and container-based systems; develop streaming pipelines from edge devices to analytics platforms; and lead proof-of-concepts that evolve into production-grade solutions. This role blends solution architecture, data engineering, and MLOps with technical leadership and mentoring across cross-functional teams.
What You'll Do (Day-to-Day)
Cloud & IoT Solutions Implementation ( 50%)
- Design and implement secure, scalable AWS architectures (microservices, serverless, containers).
- Build end-to-end IoT solutions from device connectivity and ingestion to analytics and visualization.
- Develop real-time streaming pipelines from hardware devices/sensors; implement time-series data stores.
- Stand up robust POCs using AWS services to validate new capabilities and accelerate delivery.
Big Data & Analytics Platform Development ( 25%)
- Implement and optimize big data solutions with Amazon Kinesis, Glue, EMR, Redshift, and Timestream.
- Design data lakes/warehouses for massive IoT ingestion and analytics; enable near real-time dashboards.
- Tune queries and pipelines; streamline data processing workflows; establish data governance and security controls.
AI/ML Implementation & Innovation ( 15%)
- Partner with Data Scientists to deliver predictive analytics and anomaly detection for grid/operations use cases.
- Prototype and deploy models using AWS SageMaker, Bedrock (and related AWS AI services); integrate GenAI where high value.
- Optimize models and inference pipelines for performance, reliability, and cost.
Technical Leadership & Mentoring ( 10%)
- Lead design reviews and architecture decisions; champion cloud and DevOps best practices.
- Mentor junior engineers; foster a high-ownership, bias-for-action engineering culture.
- Collaborate with product, data, and operations teams to translate business needs into scalable technical solutions.
Qualifications
Required
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field (Master's preferred).
- 8 10 years of full-stack or platform software engineering experience.
- 5+ years hands-on with AWS, building solutions across multiple services.
- 3+ years leading technical teams or mentoring developers.
- Expert knowledge of AWS ecosystem: EC2, Lambda, IoT Core, Kinesis, S3, DynamoDB, Redshift, Glue, RDS, Bedrock (and related).
- Proven experience with real-time streaming data processing and analytics.
- Hands-on with time-series databases (e.g., Amazon Timestream, InfluxDB).
- Strong data engineering and ETL/ELT pipeline development background.
- Proficiency in multiple languages: Python, Java, C#, Go, JavaScript/TypeScript.
- Solid DevOps foundation (CI/CD, observability) and experience using SonarQube (or similar) to drive code quality.
