Summary
A Manual QA Tester is responsible for validating software applications through comprehensive functional, regression, and user acceptance testing. This role ensures that applications meet business requirements, quality standards, and end-user expectations before release.
Key Responsibilities
Execute manual test cases across functional, regression, system, and user acceptance testing phases.
Translate business and functional requirements into detailed test scenarios and test cases.
Identify, document, and track defects using defect management tools, ensuring timely resolution.
Collaborate closely with developers, business analysts, and QA teams to clarify requirements and resolve issues.
Validate application workflows, UI, data integrity, and business logic across multiple environments.
Participate in test planning, test strategy discussions, and review meetings.
Improve overall test coverage by identifying gaps and creating additional test cases.
Perform basic security, usability, and compatibility testing to ensure application compliance with standards.
Prepare and maintain test documentation, reports, and traceability matrices.
Support release cycles by verifying fixes and conducting regression testing.
Learn and apply new testing tools, methodologies, and best practices.
Assist and support junior testers through knowledge sharing and peer reviews.
Qualifications
Bachelor s degree or equivalent professional experience.
2-5 years of hands-on experience in manual software testing.
Strong understanding of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and Software Testing Life Cycle (STLC).
Working knowledge of databases and SQL for data validation.
Experience in writing clear, detailed test cases and defect reports.
Preferred Skills / Duties
Experience working in Agile/Scrum development environments.
Exposure to test automation tools and frameworks is a plus.
Familiarity with cloud-based applications and environments.
Experience using version control systems such as Git or SVN.
Strong attention to detail, analytical thinking, and communication skills
