The DeckPlateOS team builds and owns the core manufacturing software that enables production execution across maritime programs - from planning and build to test, quality, and delivery.
ABOUT THE ROLEAs a Senior Engineering Manager, Manufacturing Software, you will lead the design, development, and execution of mission-critical manufacturing software systems that directly support Anduril's maritime production operations.This role is intentionally engineering-forward. You will be accountable not only for delivery, but for technical quality, while remaining tightly aligned with manufacturing, product, and operations leadership. You will manage and grow a team of software engineers building scalable manufacturing web applications and services, while personally contributing to technical direction, system design, and execution of complex initiatives.
WHAT YOU'LL DO- Engineering & Project Leadership: Lead and manage multiple concurrent software programs, ensuring delivery on time, within scope, and within budget. Set technical direction, enforce engineering best practices, and uphold high standards for code quality, reliability, and scalability. Own hiring, onboarding, and career development for engineers on the team.
- Technical Execution: Drive system design and architecture decisions for manufacturing software, balancing speed, scalability, and long-term maintainability.Partner closely with senior engineers and architects to review designs, unblock execution, and resolve complex technical challenges. Ensure strong CI/CD practices, testing strategies, and operational readiness.
- Manufacturing Systems & Integration: Drive initiatives integrating manufacturing software with PLM, ERP, and MES systems. Ensure accurate, reliable data flow across planning, build, quality, and production execution workflows. Deeply understand manufacturing processes and translate them into robust software solutions.
- Cross-Functional Leadership:Act as the primary point of contact for interfacing with engineering, product, QA, manufacturing teams, and operations stakeholders.Translate operational needs into clear technical roadmaps and execution plans. Proactively identify risks and drive mitigation across technical, schedule, and operational dimensions.
- Documentation & Reporting: Maintain detailed program documentation, including project plans, timelines, dependencies, and executive readouts
- Delivery & Accountability:Own end-to-end delivery of multiple concurrent initiatives, ensuring predictable execution and high-quality outcomes. Drive Agile execution while adapting processes to meet the realities of software-hardware integrated environments. Communicate progress, risks, and outcomes clearly to technical and executive audiences.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS- 8+ years of professional software engineering experience, including hands-on development of production systems.
- Exposure to leading or managing software engineering teams.
- Strong proficiency in modern software development practices, system design, and architecture.
- Experience building and operating web applications and services in production environments.
- Familiarity with manufacturing enterprise systems (PLM, ERP, MES) or adjacent operational systems.
- Strong understanding of Agile development, CI/CD, and DevOps principles.
- Excellent communication skills across technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Proficiency with project management and collaboration tools (e.g., JIRA, Confluence)
- Ability to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS- Background in manufacturing, software-hardware integration, or production systems.
- Technical background in software engineering or systems architecture.
- Experience scaling teams and systems in fast-moving, ambiguous environments.
- Track record of owning complex systems from concept through sustained operation.
- Prior experience as a Tech Lead, Staff Engineer, or Engineering Manager in mission-critical domains.
US Salary Range
$191,000-$253,000 USD
The salary range for this role is an estimate based on a wide range of compensation factors, inclusive of base salary only. Actual salary offer may vary based on (but not limited to) work experience, education and/or training, critical skills, and/or business considerations.
