Job Description:

As a DevOps engineer on this team, you'll work on supporting and improving the operational posture of the fundamental infrastructure components that all other teams at Airbnb build upon, such as our compute platform, cloud services, service mesh, cloud provisioning and networking stack. With users around the world, reliability, scalability, efficiency, high availability and operational ease and efficiency are our team s core concerns.

A Typical Day:

• Interact with partners of Cloud Infrastructure to help resolve production issues and challenges being faced by them.
• Triage, investigate and solve technical challenges faced by Cloud Infrastructure partners; interfacing and collaborating with talented and friendly CloudInfra engineers.
• Identify areas of improvement to reduce toil in maintaining the infrastructure components reliably, as well as enhance the ease of use for our customers, where possible.
• Automate, where possible, to improve operational efficiency and reducing burden
• Update documentation to provide up-to-date information and enable users to self-service common issues.
• Continuously improve the support process to provide better visibility into trends observed, which can help identify potential areas of improvement and investment.

Your Expertise:

• Expertise with a public cloud provider (AWS in particular, Google Cloud Platform, Azure) and their infrastructure as a service offering (e.g. EC2/EKS) is required.
• Kubernetes Experience is required.
• Istio/Envoy Experience is preferred.
• CI/CD experience (Buildkite, Spinnaker) is preferred.
• Strong problem solving and solid production debugging skills are required
• Ability to navigate different technologies to efficiently solve incoming requests.
• Passionate about efficiency, availability, quality and system quality.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well within a team and across engineering teams is key.
• Experience with Python/Ruby, Golang, bash scripting.
• Integrations with slack, asana, jira are good to have.
• Layer3 networking, Edge Networking, CDN, DNS experience is a plus
