ECS is seeking a UX Designer to help create innovative solutions that transform the way our DHS HQ customers work.
As a member of our DHS HQ t eam, you will collaborate with our customer and their stakeholders to:
- Research and identify challenges and opportunities in customer/user journeys, interactions, and touchpoints
- Design and test approaches to improving service delivery and the customer/user experience
- Foster the growth of a customer-centric culture across the federal enterprise.
The ideal candidate possesses experience planning and executing user research, using their findings to reveal key insights that guide the design of dynamic experiences, exceeding the expectations of both our customer and the citizens and organizations they serve. You will work closely with your ECS teammates to create engaging, customer-focused experiences across services, applications, and websites that are critical to our customer's mission success.
Job Responsibilities: - Collaborate with federal practice engineers and federal clients to define, design, and implement innovative, intuitive solutions for use by our federal customer and their stakeholders.
- Lead discovery efforts to gain a deeper understanding of existing tools and processes and/or gather requirements for new projects.
- Plan and lead customer/user research using a variety of engagement strategies and tools (surveys, interviews, focus groups, observations, etc.).
- Create research reports, user journey maps, workflows, user personas, day-in-the-life scenarios, and use case summaries that develop a clear understanding and empathy for our customers/users.
- Design wireframes, mockups, and prototypes as appropriate, incorporating requirements from federal customers.
- Validate designs through usability testing, collecting, and incorporating user feedback throughout the product development process.
- Collaborate in the creation of customer/ user experience success stories, case studies, demonstrations, and trainings.
- Translate user research and discovery findings into clear, testable business and functional requirements.
Salary Range: $100,000 - $112,000

- Bachelor's Degree
- 5 + years combined professional experience
- Online portfolio that showcases the candidate's UX design experience and deliverables
- Experience crafting key UX deliverables (e.g., user journey maps, research plans, empathy maps, service blueprints, stakeholder maps, user flows, storyboards, interaction models, wireframes and prototypes for complex systems, testing plans, etc.)
- Experience interpreting user research and analytics to produce key insights and recommendations
- Experience collaborating with UX/UI designers and technical teams for high-fidelity prototyping, piloting, testing, and implementation efforts
- Results-oriented problem solver with high standards for quality, accuracy, attention to detail, and overall excellence
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, demonstrating the ability to present projects and status reports to internal management, as well as customers and stakeholders
- Self-starter, motivated, confident, with the ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
Desired Skills - Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously
- Experience working in Agile or similar lean delivery team
- Experience using Microsoft 365 suite
- Experience using Figma
- Experience using Adobe Creative Cloud design applications
- Experience with HTML/CSS
- Public speaking/presentation experience
- Previous experience supporting federal programs (DHS preferred)
