Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Subject Matter Expert (SME) in Tax to support Tax Collector operations for a contract role in Ventura County. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in California tax regulations, the ability to manage high-volume workloads, and experience working with county-level tax requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Provide expert guidance on tax laws, regulations, and terminology
Analyze and document business requirements, including county-specific needs (Ventura, Orange, or similar)
Manage and prioritize high-volume tax work queues
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve complex tax issues
Support onsite and remote operations in a hybrid environment

Required Skills & Qualifications

Strong expertise in tax operations and compliance
In-depth knowledge of California taxation practices
Experience with county tax systems (Tax Collector / Treasurer functions)
Ability to manage high workloads and complex cases
Excellent communication and analytical skills
Comfortable working in a hybrid work environment
