Job Details

Vaco is partnering with a leading university in the online education industry to bring on a Software Engineer with a strong background in Java full-stack development. This role is highly specialized: the top immediate need is Flowable (BPMN/DMN) expertise for process-driven development. Once established, you’ll broaden your scope to core Java and integration work supporting enterprise-scale applications.

You’ll play a key role in transforming and modernizing the client’s software ecosystem, leveraging cloud-native tools and workflow automation. The role is 100% remote for U.S.-based candidates, with immediate onboarding available.
 

What You’ll Do

  • Lead development efforts on Flowable-based workflow solutions (BPMN/DMN modeling).

  • Build, enhance, and maintain Java and Node.js services within a microservices environment.

  • Develop and integrate APIs across complex enterprise applications.

  • Contribute to containerized deployments using Docker and Kubernetes.

  • Support CI/CD pipeline optimization for continuous integration and automated releases.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement modern, scalable, cloud-based solutions.

What We’re Looking For

Required Skills (** = top priority):**

  • Java Development (****) – strong backend engineering experience.

  • Flowable (****) – hands-on experience with BPMN/DMN process modeling.

  • Node.js (****) – proven ability to build and maintain services.

  • Spring Boot framework knowledge.

  • Strong API and database integration experience.

  • Docker / Kubernetes experience in production environments.

  • CI/CD pipeline development and automation.

  • Exposure to AI/ML integrations in enterprise IT is a plus.

Contract Details:

  • Duration: 12 months (through September 2026)

  • Location: U.S. only (Remote or hybrid if based in Phoenix, AZ)

  • Pay Range: Up to $60/hr
