This role focuses on strengthening how cloud security requirements are captured, tracked, validated, and delivered across the organization. The Cloud Security Engineering Product Owner ensures security expectations are clearly defined, not overlooked, and consistently implemented while balancing risk and business outcomes within established risk tolerance. This position demands a highly organized, detail-oriented leader with a strong software/IT engineering background who can lead by example in disciplined product ownership, requirement management, and cloud-native security enablement. Responsibilities Include: Own and manage the product backlog for Cloud Security Engineering capabilities, ensuring requirements are clearly defined, prioritized, tracked, and delivered. Drive rigor in requirements of management, including definition, verification, validation, and traceability throughout the engineering lifecycle. Partner with engineering and architecture teams to ensure security, compliance, and architectural requirements are not dropped or overlooked during design, development, and deployment. Translate cloud security strategy and architectural guidance into actionable product requirements and user stories. Evaluate cloud-native security risks and guide tradeoff decisions in alignment with defined risk tolerance and leadership direction. Provide product ownership for cloud-native security capabilities, including Kubernetes security (AWS EKS, Google Cloud Platform GKE, Red Hat OpenShift) and cloud platform controls. Ensure secure software development principles are incorporated into cloud security engineering initiatives, including awareness of CI/CD, AppSec tooling, and secure deployment practices. Collaborate with operations and support teams to define support and operational workflows with security and policy compliance in mind. Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to ensure successful delivery, adoption, and continuous improvement of cloud security engineering solutions. Required Skills/Experience Strong background in software or IT engineering disciplines, including testing, verification, validation, and structured requirements management. Demonstrated experience performing Product Owner or Product Management responsibilities in a technical or security-focused environment. General Information Security knowledge with a strong security mindset and the ability to evaluate and balance risk versus reward. Knowledge of Kubernetes and container platforms; familiarity with AWS EKS, Google Cloud Platform GKE, or Red Hat OpenShift preferred. Understanding of secure software development and deployment practices, including the role of application security tooling and CI/CD controls. General cloud security knowledge, including identity, networking, shared responsibility models, and platform security concepts. Knowledge of cloud-native policy mechanisms such as AWS SCPs and RCPs, Google Cloud Platform Organization Constraints, and Azure Security Policies. Experience or familiarity with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform and policy enforcement solutions (e.g., Sentinel or equivalent). Exposure to operational or support models and an understanding of how security and compliance requirements influence production support workflows (nice to have). Educational Requirement: Bachelor’s Degree in computer science, computer engineering, information systems, or a related field; or equivalent experience.
