OverviewThe Design Engineer/Telecom Drafter specializes in fiber network and transport systems and brings over three years of telecommunications experience. This role focuses heavily on drafting and documentation, supporting both Inside Plant (ISP) and light Outside Plant (OSP) design activities. The position requires strong technical proficiency, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate with design teams and field engineers.
Primary Responsibilities- Plan, design, and document OSP/ISP fiber networks.
- Develop and update drafting materials in AutoCAD, including installation plans, decommissioning plans, rack elevations, and related documentation.
- Integrate advanced transport technologies such as SONET and DWDM into network designs.
- Create splicing schematics, network architecture diagrams, and utility communication layouts.
- Ensure all designs comply with permitting requirements, industry standards, and client specifications.
- Collaborate with designers and field engineers to incorporate field data and updates into design packages.
- Maintain accurate As-Built records and ensure documentation aligns with project and client standards.
Top Skills- 3-5+ years of telecommunications design experience, particularly in support of drafting teams.
- Ability to produce detailed technical documentation, including network maps, splicing diagrams, and As-Built records.
- Strong proficiency in AutoCAD and GIS platforms.
Additional Skills & Qualifications- Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Relevant certifications are desirable, including:
- BICSI, RCDD
- OSHA 10
- AutoCAD Civil 3D
- CCNA
- DWDM/SONET OEM training
- AutoCAD Professional
- GIS Fundamentals
- Strong teamwork and collaboration skills; able to support partners and fill gaps as needed.
- Self-sufficient with the ability to work independently while contributing effectively to team efforts.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $30.00 - $50.00/hr.
