As a global leader in ever expanding power and energy industry, we are seeking a skilled and motivated Software Developer to join our team in the rapidly growing power and energy industry. In this role, you will be responsible for developing 3D digital twin modeling solutions that drive efficiency and foster innovation within our engineering and design processes.
We do not sponsor employees for work authorization in the U.S. for this position.
Role Overview
As a Software Developer, your responsibilities include using C++ and C# to design, build, and support applications for CAD-based engineering and 3D plant design workflows. This role involves applying software engineering skills within the Bentley System's Software Engineering ecosystems. Tasks include developing custom modeling tools, automating workflows, and enhancing software used by engineers.
The position involves applying software development principles within this industry, collaborating with stakeholders, end-users and other developers, building solutions, and improving the quality and adaptability of digital engineering tools.
Key Responsibilities
This position offers the flexibility of a hybrid schedule with the expectation of 3 days per week in our downtown Chicago office, and 2 days remote from home.

Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain robust 3D modeling applications in C++ and C# to support engineering and business operations.
- Collaborate effectively with engineers, designers, and senior developers to gather requirements and translate business and engineering needs into technical solutions.
- Enhance your professional expertise to become a critical technical resource, facilitating the migration from legacy systems to modern platforms.
- Diagnose and resolve software defects and integration challenges within our engineering software stack, working alongside senior team members.
- Contribute to the maintenance and enhancement of existing systems through the implementation of bug fixes and new features.
- Engage actively in all phases of the team's software development lifecycle, adhering to best practices for code quality, source control, and collaborative workflows.

Qualifications
Key Qualifications
- BS degree in Computer Science, a comparable technical degree, or equivalent professional experience.
- A problem-solver with 3-5 years of professional software development experience.
- Proficient in C++ and comfortable with C#/.NET in a Microsoft Visual Studio environment.
- A solid foundation in problem-solving and writing clean, readable code.
- Good collaboration and communication skills, with a desire to learn and work as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Bentley Systems Engineering Software, 3D CAD or graphics development (MicroStation, MDL), and plant design workflows.
- Database development (Oracle, SQL Server, SQLite), source control (Azure DevOps, GIT), Agile practices, and OOP principles
- Experience in Azure and OCI cloud platforms
