TheData Center Technician IIwill support a 24x7 Data Operations Center (DOC) to ensure that all software, hardware, and other infrastructure components are monitored in accordance with required standards.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Support the design, improvement, implementation and operation of a Data Operations Center (DOC).
  • Follow industry standards and best practices for Data Centers.
  • Perform Help Desk activities such as answering helpdesk phones/email/fax after-hours from the regular scheduled helpdesk support.
  • Support the collection/analysis, authoring, and communication of requirements.
  • Perform 24x7 monitoring for network resource outages and Enterprise/Data Center applications, etc. Network monitoring and application/server monitoring shall be done via government supplied monitoring tools, such as Microsoft SCOM, What's Up Gold, Solar Winds, etc.
  • Open tickets for monitoring and outages.
  • Other duties as assigned.

    Minimum Qualifications:
  • Associate's degree or combination of education and experience.
  • 3+ years of related technical experience in supporting Information Technology environment at the server level. Support would include (but not limited to): backup and recovery of systems, patching of systems, providing Tier II/III support to lower tiers, performance tuning, hardware upgrades, operational configurations, resource optimization, etc.
  • Background check.

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Ability to support Microsoft and Linux Operating systems.
  • Ability to perform work tasks with guidance.
  • Knowledgeable in Data Center Standards including, but not limited to cabling, power, cooling and security and also knowledgeable in Data Center Monitoring applications including, but not limited to, Microsoft Operations Manager, Microsoft SCCM 2012, Qwest Monitoring tools and Network Monitoring Tools such as What's Up Gold or Solar Winds.
  • Knowledgeable in Microsoft Operating Systems (desktop and server), Networking equipment and software, and Microsoft Office Productivity Suite.
  • Strong organizational skills with demonstrated ability to handle multiple projects and details simultaneously.
  • Must have working knowledge of Microsoft office software applications (MSWord, Excel, Access, PowerPoint), and Outlook.
  • Expert levels of interpersonal skills sufficient to communicate effectively, convince, influence, advice, and respond to questions from leadership, including senior decision makers.
  • Must have excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work nights, weekends and holidays.
  • Ability to obtain an IA driver's license which will allow operation of a government vehicle.
