IO Datasphere, Inc. has been providing project management, software development and IT staff augmentation services to our clients in the Midwest and throughout the U.S. since 1996. We are an approved vendor on contract to provide software development and IT staff augmentation services for the States of Illinois, Michigan, Minnesota, Iowa, and Wisconsin. We also provide these services to businesses, as well as local and county governments, in the Midwest and nationwide.
Our client is looking for a SQL Database Administrator. This position is responsible for growing and operating the Information Technology program.
Tasks
- Coordinates physical changes to computer databases; codes, tests, and implements physical database, applying knowledge of database management system.
- Designs logical and physical databases reviews description of changes to database design to understand how changes to be made aect physical databases (how data is stored in terms of physical characteristics, such as location, amount of space, and access method). Establishes physical database parameters.
- Codes database descriptions and species identiers of database-to-database management system or directs others in coding database descriptions.
- Calculating optimum values for database parameters, such as amount of computer memory to be used by database, following manuals and using calculator.
- Species user access level for each segment of one or more data items, such as insert, replace, retrieve, or deleting data.
- Species which users can access databases and what data can be accessed by user.
- Tests and corrects errors, and renes changes to database.
- Enters codes to create production database. Selects and enters codes of utility program to monitor database performance, such as distribution of records and amount of available memory. Directs programmers and analysts to make changes to database management system.
- Reviews and corrects programs.
- Answers user questions/ May train users
- Confers with coworkers to determine impact of database changes on other systems and sta cost for making changes to database.
- Modies database programs to increase processing performance, referred to as performance tuning. Workers typically specialize in one or more types of database management systems.
- This position may lead and direct the work of others.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
- Effective and professional communication and interpersonal skills when dealing with a variety of customers including executives.
- Highly self-motivated with the ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks with strong attention to detail.
- The incumbent is expected to be familiar with a wide variety of IT concepts, practices, and technologies
NOTE: Candidates must be CURRENT WI residents. No relocation allowed. This position will be onsite a minimum of two days per week.

Skills Required:
- 8+ years - Advanced knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server (e.g., installation, configuration, support and troubleshooting)
- 8+ years - Experience with SQL database administration (e.g., database security, SQL and/or PL/SQL tuning, report writing, scripting and task automation)
Skills Desired A plus to have:
- Microsoft SQL server certification
- ITIL 4 Foundation certification
- CompTIA A+ certification of similar
- PMP certification or similar
