Position Overview
System One is seeking a highly motivated Test Engineer - Alkali Metal Testing to support advanced reactor testing operations for a leading clean energy client. This on-site role in Everett, WA will support engineering and full-scale laboratory testing activities, with a focus on high-temperature liquid sodium and molten salt systems.
The Test Engineer will assist with experimental design, test execution, data acquisition, and post-test analysis in support of next-generation reactor development programs.
Key Responsibilities
Collaborate with internal stakeholders to translate conceptual requirements into actionable test specifications, including instrumentation strategies and success criteria.
Support experimental design, operation, repair, and analysis of tests focused on high-temperature liquid sodium systems.
Coordinate cross-functional efforts related to test fixture design, control system integration, and laboratory space planning.
Design and select instrumentation, data acquisition, and control systems to meet experimental objectives.
Develop and document test plans, test designs, and test procedures.
Execute testing activities and conduct post-test data analysis.
Generate clear, accurate test reports and technical documentation.
Apply nuclear industry best practices to maintain high standards of quality and safety.
Identify opportunities for process improvements and technical enhancements.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in an applicable engineering discipline.
Minimum of three (3) years of experience in a testing, research, or R&D environment.
Experience documenting experiments and test results.
Hands-on experience assembling and operating test systems.
Experience with multiple testing types (R&D, Acceptance, Validation, Qualification).
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
High level of safety awareness and attention to detail.
Ability to manage multiple tasks concurrently.
Comfortable working in a lightly structured environment requiring both standards-based guidance and first-principles problem solving.
High degree of professionalism, integrity, and teamwork orientation.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with alkali metals and/or molten salt testing and handling.
Experience with fluid systems.
Experience designing and integrating data acquisition and control systems.
Familiarity with engineering tools such as LabVIEW, SolidWorks, Jira/Confluence, and the Microsoft Office 365 suite is preferred.
