Role Overview
The Principal Data Scientist is a senior technical leader responsible for driving advanced analytics, machine learning, and data-driven decision-making across the organization. This role combines deep hands-on expertise with strategic leadership, mentoring, and cross-functional influence to deliver scalable, high-impact data science solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the design, development, and deployment of advanced machine learning and statistical models for complex business problems.
Define data science strategy, standards, and best practices across teams.
Partner with product, engineering, and business stakeholders to translate business objectives into analytical solutions.
Architect end-to-end data science solutions, from data acquisition and feature engineering to model deployment and monitoring.
Review and guide model selection, experimentation design, and performance evaluation.
Mentor and coach senior and junior data scientists; provide technical leadership and code reviews.
Drive innovation by evaluating and adopting new algorithms, tools, and technologies.
Communicate insights, recommendations, and model results clearly to executive and non-technical audiences.
Ensure responsible AI practices, including model fairness, explainability, privacy, and compliance.
Influence roadmap prioritization using data-driven insights and experimentation.
Required Qualifications
Master’s or PhD in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field.
8–12+ years of experience in data science, analytics, or applied machine learning roles.
Strong expertise in machine learning, statistics, and predictive modeling.
Proficiency in Python (NumPy, Pandas, scikit-learn), SQL, and at least one ML framework (TensorFlow, PyTorch, or equivalent).
Experience with large-scale data processing (Spark, Databricks, BigQuery, or similar).
Proven track record of deploying and maintaining production ML models.
Excellent problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
