Principal Data Scientist

Role Overview

The Principal Data Scientist is a senior technical leader responsible for driving advanced analytics, machine learning, and data-driven decision-making across the organization. This role combines deep hands-on expertise with strategic leadership, mentoring, and cross-functional influence to deliver scalable, high-impact data science solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design, development, and deployment of advanced machine learning and statistical models for complex business problems.

• Define data science strategy, standards, and best practices across teams.

• Partner with product, engineering, and business stakeholders to translate business objectives into analytical solutions.

• Architect end-to-end data science solutions, from data acquisition and feature engineering to model deployment and monitoring.

• Review and guide model selection, experimentation design, and performance evaluation.

• Mentor and coach senior and junior data scientists; provide technical leadership and code reviews.

• Drive innovation by evaluating and adopting new algorithms, tools, and technologies.

• Communicate insights, recommendations, and model results clearly to executive and non-technical audiences.

• Ensure responsible AI practices, including model fairness, explainability, privacy, and compliance.

• Influence roadmap prioritization using data-driven insights and experimentation.

Required Qualifications

• Master’s or PhD in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field.

• 8–12+ years of experience in data science, analytics, or applied machine learning roles.

• Strong expertise in machine learning, statistics, and predictive modeling.

• Proficiency in Python (NumPy, Pandas, scikit-learn), SQL, and at least one ML framework (TensorFlow, PyTorch, or equivalent).

• Experience with large-scale data processing (Spark, Databricks, BigQuery, or similar).

• Proven track record of deploying and maintaining production ML models.

• Excellent problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
