Inside Plant Technician - Headend / Data Center Core Network Projects

Location: New York Metro Area (NYC + NJ hubs)
Type: Contract-to-Hire
Pay: Negotiable (Mileage reimbursed; company vehicle may be provided for certain assignments)
Important: All applicants must be local to the New York Metro area and must have hands-on experience working inside Headends, Hubs, or Central Offices.

Overview

A TEKsystems client is seeking Inside Plant Technicians to support core network and data center upgrade projects throughout the New York Metro region. These technicians will perform installations and migrations of transport and optical equipment inside hubs, headends, and data center environments. Work includes hub migrations, new device deployments, and preparing the network for next-generation optical platforms.
Experience inside Headend/CO environments is essential-maintaining service continuity during migrations is critical.

Responsibilities
Rack and stack telecom and optical network equipment in headends, hubs, and data centers
Install and migrate core network devices
Perform fiber testing, including optical power measurements and path verification
Install and connect DC power cabling
Load basic prebuilt configurations into network devices
Complete one site at a time and transition to the next once work is finished
Travel across NYC/NJ project locations (mileage reimbursed; potential use of company vehicle)

Required Skills
Experience working in Headend, Hub, or Central Office environments
Strong rack-and-stack skills for telecom, routing, switching, and optical platforms
Fiber optic installation, dressing, and testing
Experience installing and connecting DC power feeds
Familiarity with equipment from vendors such as Ciena, Adtran, Lucent, Cisco, Juniper
Understanding of optical transport systems and service provider core networks

You are an Inside Plant technician who understands the critical nature of service provider environments. You've installed equipment in headends, hubs, and data centers, and you're skilled in rack and stack, fiber handling, and equipment turn-up. You are detail-oriented and eager to expand your experience with advanced optical and core networking technologies.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $38.00/hr.
