Director of ECM Systems, Onsite, New York City, NY

We are seeking a Director of ECM Systems to lead the strategy, governance, and operational excellence of its document management and collaboration platforms. This role is critical to ensure enterprise content systems are secure, compliant, and scalable, while supporting business objectives across a complex, highly regulated environment. Experience in the legal industry or similarly regulated, client-facing environments is required. This Director of ECM Systems position is 100% Onsite in New York City, NY and not open for Remote.

Director of ECM Systems Responsibilities:

- Lead the strategy and operational excellence of ECM platforms, delivering secure, compliant, and scalable document and collaboration services aligned with firmwide objectives.

- Establish and enforce governance standards across Enterprise Content Management (ECM) systems in accordance with information security, risk, and compliance requirements.

- Drive continuous improvement and optimization of Enterprise Content Management (ECM) platforms by evaluating system performance, user adoption, and evolving business needs.

- Serve as the senior liaison and escalation point for Enterprise Content Management (ECM) vendors and internal stakeholders, ensuring strong partnerships, effective contracts, and alignment with enterprise architecture standards.

- Monitor industry trends and emerging technologies in content management and collaboration, translating insights into actionable recommendations and long-term technology roadmaps.

- Define and execute Enterprise Content Management (ECM) strategy and investment priorities, aligning with enterprise IT strategy, information governance policies, and business requirements.

- Provide leadership and accountability for the Enterprise Content Management (ECM) team, including workforce planning, performance management, and professional development, ensuring high service levels and operational effectiveness.

- Oversee the availability, reliability, and support of core Enterprise Content Management (ECM) platforms, including document management, collaboration, and client-facing systems, ensuring business continuity.

- Provide architectural and technical oversight for complex Enterprise Content Management (ECM) solutions and integrations, ensuring scalability, security, and adherence to enterprise standards.

Director of ECM Systems Qualifications:

- Bachelor s degree in Business, Information Systems, or a related discipline (preferred).

- Experience in the legal industry or similarly regulated, client-facing environments is required.

- 15+ years of progressive experience in enterprise IT systems, including senior leadership of business-critical, highly available platforms is required.

- 5+ years of direct people leadership experience, including team development and operational accountability is required.

- 5+ years of leadership experience in enterprise content or document management systems, with responsibility for strategy, delivery, and ongoing optimization is required.

- Experience in the legal industry or similarly regulated, client-facing environments is required.

- Demonstrated expertise in leading and governing enterprise document management platforms in complex, highly regulated environments.

- Extensive experience managing and evolving enterprise intranet and collaboration platforms, including usability, governance, and lifecycle planning.

- Strong background supporting professional services organizations, with experience delivering secure external collaboration solutions such as client portals, deal rooms, and team workspaces.
