Role Summary

The SAP MDG Consultant will serve as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for SAP Master Data Governance (MDG) with a strong focus on Material Master and Business Partner (BP) in S/4HANA. The role requires end-to-end ownership of MDG implementations, including FIT-GAP workshops, configuration, data migration strategy, integrations, and stakeholder engagement. The consultant is expected to independently drive MDG projects and deliver high-quality, compliant master data solutions.

Must-Have Technical & Functional Skills

• 12+ years overall SAP experience with 2 3 full-cycle SAP MDG implementations.

• SME-level expertise in SAP MDG Material Master and Business Partner.

• Strong experience driving end-to-end MDG implementations independently.

• Hands-on configuration experience in:

  • MDG IMG

  • DRF IMG

  • BRF+ rules

  • Workflows

  • Data Replication Framework (DRF)

• Deep understanding of SAP S/4HANA MDG technical framework.

• Strong SAP data expertise to deliver MDG Material Master solutions.

• Experience defining and executing Data Migration strategies.

• Ability to guide and integrate MDG with SAP and non-SAP systems.

Roles & Responsibilities

MDG Design & Configuration

• Lead MDG Material & BP FIT-GAP design workshops.

• Author:

  • Business Process Documents (BPDs)

  • Process flows

  • Functional Specification Documents (FSDs)

  • Configuration documents

  • GAP analysis documents

• Perform hands-on S/4HANA MDG Material Master end-to-end configuration.

• Configure and manage MDG IMG, DRF IMG, workflows, and validation rules.

Data Governance & Quality

• Provide data quality best practices and guidance to MDG data design and build.

• Collaborate with functional teams, data partners, and data quality teams.

• Ensure robust governance, validation, and stewardship processes for master data.

Integration & Migration

• Define and execute data migration approaches for MDG implementations.

• Support and guide integration with SAP and non-SAP systems.

• Leverage deep knowledge of:

  • SAP data dictionary tables

  • Views and relationships

  • ECC and S/4HANA data architectures

• Provide high-depth functional knowledge of Material Master and Business Partner objects.

Collaboration & Delivery

• Work effectively in distributed delivery models (onshore/offshore).

• Engage with key stakeholders to gather requirements, manage expectations, and ensure delivery success.

• Support requirement gathering, FIT-GAP analysis, and design documentation.
