Overview
We are seeking a motivated and skilled Python Data Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have strong proficiency in Python, knowledge of MongoDB, and experience with Power BI. The role will focus on building data extracts and data feeds for downstream systems, including Ledger, Reporting, and Boudreaux. You will be responsible for developing and maintaining scalable data pipelines, ensuring data accuracy, and delivering timely data solutions based on predefined definitions.
This position also involves working with serverless architectures utilizing services such as Lambda, SQS, and SNS, as well as infrastructure automation through CloudFormation and Terraform scripts. A solid understanding of Infrastructure as Code (IaC), IAM roles, and secure data management practices are essential to ensure reliable and secure data operations.
Additional Information
The base salary for this position will vary based on geography and other factors. In accordance with law, the base salary for this role if filled within Hartford is $110-1115K/year & benefits (see below).
The Role
Responsibilities:
- Write efficient and scalable Python code to extract, transform, and load data from various sources, ensuring it meets the requirements for downstream systems.
- Utilize MongoDB for storing, managing, and optimizing data models and queries for high performance and reliability.
- Work with serverless architectures by designing and deploying solutions leveraging AWS Lambda, SQS, and SNS for event-driven data processing and notifications.
- Develop infrastructure automation using CloudFormation and Terraform scripts for provisioning and managing cloud resources.
- Manage IAM roles to control access and ensure security compliance across data pipelines and cloud resources.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to deliver data in formats suitable for reporting and visualization in Power BI, aligning with business needs.
- Build and maintain data feeds for downstream systems, including Ledger and Boudreaux, ensuring data is delivered timely and accurately.
- Work closely with business analysts and stakeholders to understand data definitions and translate them into technical specifications.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of data pipelines, data models, and technical specifications for knowledge sharing and compliance.
- Implement data validation and quality checks to ensure the integrity and accuracy of delivered data.
Requirements:
You are:
- Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in data engineering or a related field.
- Strong experience in Python programming, especially in data manipulation, ETL processes, and building scalable data pipelines.
- Solid knowledge of MongoDB and experience in database design, management, and optimization.
- Experience working with serverless architectures in cloud environments, particularly AWS Lambda, SQS, and SNS.
- Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using CloudFormation and Terraform scripts.
- Familiarity with IAM roles for secure cloud resource management.
- Experience in building data extracts and feeds for business applications.
- Proficiency in Power BI for creating reports, dashboards, and visualizations.
- Strong analytical skills and problem-solving abilities to deliver high-quality, reliable data solutions.
- Excellent communication skills, capable of conveying technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- A collaborative team player able to work effectively in fast-paced, dynamic environments.
