Job Title: Base24 / Tandem Developer

Duration: 12+ Months Contract/FTE

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Base24 / Tandem Developer to support Fiserv’s electronic payments platform. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in the ACI Base24 Classic environment running on HP NonStop (Tandem) systems and will be responsible for development, enhancements, maintenance, and production support of mission-critical payment applications.

Required Skills & Experience

5+ years hands-on experience with ACI Base24 Classic (ESS, ATM/POS modules, Auth, Settlement).

Strong working knowledge of HP NonStop (Tandem) systems (Guardian OS).

Proficiency in:

   TACL

   TAL / pTAL

   SCOBOL / COBOL

   C / C++ (optional but preferred)

   Enscribe files, Pathway, Expand, DDL, FUP, SCF.

Experience in payment transaction flows, ISO8583 message formats, and switching.

Familiarity with ATM devices, POS terminals, network interfaces, and card schemes.

Good understanding of batch processes, file transfers (FTP, RDF), and TNS macros.

Strong analytical and debugging skills in a real-time, high-availability environment.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience working with Fiserv systems, processes, or payment platforms.

Exposure to Base24-eps (nice to have).

Knowledge of EMV, HSM, key management, and encryption configurations.

Experience in Agile/Scrum development methodology.

Good communication skills for client interaction and cross-team collaboration.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

Key Responsibilities

Develop, enhance, and maintain applications in ACI Base24 Classic on HP NonStop (Tandem).

Work on authorization, settlement, and POS/ATM transaction processing modules.

Perform coding using TACL, TAL, SCOBOL, COBOL, C, and other Tandem utilities.

Support and troubleshoot issues in production, ensuring high availability and minimal downtime.

Participate in application deployment, regression testing, and migration activities on Tandem systems.

Conduct analysis of business requirements and translate them into technical specifications.

Work with Fiserv internal teams for release coordination, impact analysis, and validation.

Perform file maintenance, configuration updates, network interface updates, card table changes, and parameter updates.

Handle monitoring, debugging, and performance tuning on the HP NonStop environment.

Ensure compliance with Fiserv’s standards for coding, documentation, and operational excellence.

Support incident, problem, and change management processes.
