Job Details

This position is for an internship within the Engineering and Integration Department as part of the Missiles & Aviation Solutions Division. Engineers in the Missiles & Aviation Solutions Division provide solutions to complex, technical problems involving modeling and simulation, aerodynamics design, guidance and control, software, integrated vehicle design and system integration.

The engineering intern in this position will work closely with full-time engineers to complete a technical project involving systems engineering concepts for a flight vehicle being designed by Leidos - Dynetics.

Primary Responsibilities.

Responsibilities may include the following:
  • Developing tailored Systems Engineering artifacts derived from customer needs for product development
  • Interface with program management and design engineers to support systems engineering needs including modeling system behavior, defining system architecture, dictating system interfaces, performing requirements verification, developing and executing test plans.
  • Flight system design activities outside of Systems Engineering such as avionics software and hardware design

Basic Qualifications.
  • Familiarity with Systems Engineering-based processes
  • Hands-on work in developing, documenting, and executing test processes and procedures
  • Candidate must possess strong technical communication skills and an ability to work both independently and in collaborative team environments.
  • Candidates must be a resident of North Alabama area or willing to temporarily relocate in order to work on-site at the Huntsville, AL office.
  • Candidates must be a student pursuing a degree in Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field from an ABET accredited school with a minimum GPA of 3.0.

Preferred Qualifications.
  • Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) tools
  • Flight systems & understanding of flight principles
  • Hardware-in-the-loop integration, testing and test planning in a real-time environment
  • Familiarity with software development, integration, and test
