About the Job
The Senior Networking Engineer plays a critical role in the design, implementation, and management of advanced network infrastructure. This position requires deep technical expertise in LAN, WAN, WLAN, cloud-based solutions, firewalls, and VPNs. The engineer ensures network reliability, performance, and security by developing scalable designs, optimizing traffic flow, and proactively addressing potential vulnerabilities. This role also involves cross-functional collaboration with IT teams to align network strategies with business objectives, mentoring junior staff, and contributing to complex projects.

About the Job
The Senior Networking Engineer plays a critical role in the design, implementation, and management of advanced network infrastructure. This position requires deep technical expertise in LAN, WAN, WLAN, cloud-based solutions, firewalls, and VPNs. The engineer ensures network reliability, performance, and security by developing scalable designs, optimizing traffic flow, and proactively addressing potential vulnerabilities. This role also involves cross-functional collaboration with IT teams to align network strategies with business objectives, mentoring junior staff, and contributing to complex projects.
Responsibilities
Technical Implementation
- Design, implement, and manage advanced network infrastructures (LAN, WAN, WLAN, Cloud).
- Configure and maintain network hardware (routers, switches, firewalls, VPN appliances).
- Apply expertise in network protocols (TCP/IP, UDP, BGP, OSPF, SSL).
- Collaborate with cybersecurity teams to implement and maintain robust security measures.
- Monitor, detect, and respond to network issues with timely resolution and documentation.
- Conduct performance assessments and capacity planning for scalability.
- Provide technical responses to incidents and implement long-term remediation strategies.
- Continuously optimize network performance and implement improvements.
- Ensure compliance with industry regulations and standards (e.g., HIPAA).
- Develop network strategies that align with organizational goals and compliance requirements.
- Partner with IT teams to integrate network solutions into enterprise systems.
- Provide training and guidance on network best practices and emerging technologies.
- Maintain detailed documentation of configurations, protocols, topologies, and incidents.
- Regularly update network diagrams, inventories, and change logs.
- Stay current on emerging technologies and recommend infrastructure enhancements.
- Support routine and ad hoc audits to ensure policy and regulatory compliance.
- Review and align network standards and policies with industry best practices.
- Configure, troubleshoot, and maintain network hardware/software for optimal performance.
- Optimize maintenance windows to reduce downtime and improve efficiency.
- Contribute to the implementation of network strategies aligned with business goals.
- Develop disaster recovery plans focused on resiliency and continuity.
- Assist in building long-term roadmaps for scalability and innovation.
- Collaborate on planning and validating new technologies or redesigns.
- Lead or support re-architecture efforts to meet evolving requirements.
- Provide Tier 2 and Tier 3 support to internal teams and vendors.
- Resolve complex technical challenges and ensure service continuity.
- Mentor junior engineers and administrators.
- Provide strategic direction and technical leadership on complex projects.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and complete required training.
- 8+ years of experience in network engineering with enterprise-level design and implementation.
- Strong knowledge of network protocols and hardware.
- Experience with cloud-based networking and security integration.
- Familiarity with compliance standards (e.g., HIPAA).
- Excellent documentation and communication skills.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Experience with Microsoft Azure, AWS, or other cloud platforms.
- Familiarity with network automation and scripting tools.
- Experience with DevOps tools and CI/CD pipelines.
- Proven ability to lead projects and mentor technical staff.
