Description of responsibilities:
SERVICES TO BE PERFORMED
We are seeking an outstanding Mechanical Engineer II with strong hands-on engineering skills to support the development and validation of robotic hardware. This role will focus on test fixture design and fabrication, sensor instrumentation, and execution of mechanical and electromechanical testing for robotic subsystems and assemblies.
The ideal candidate has a solid mechanical engineering foundation suited for prototype-driven development, is comfortable working directly with hardware in a lab environment, and can quickly diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve real-world mechanical issues.
REQUIRED SKILLS
BSc/MSc in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Robotics, or equivalent practical experience
Strong proficiency in SolidWorks for 3D modeling and 2D drawing creation
Demonstrated hands-on experience designing, building, and modifying test fixtures and rigs
Experience troubleshooting mechanical and electromechanical systems
Experience supporting prototype builds, test execution, and rapid design iteration
Practical experience using and integrating measurement tools and sensors, including:
- Accelerometers
- Load cells
- Strain gauges
- Force, torque, displacement, or position sensors
Strong communication, documentation, and data reporting skills
PREFERRED SKILLS
Experience working on robotic or mechatronic systems, including actuators, joints, linkages, and structural assemblies
Familiarity with DAQ systems and test software (e.g., LabVIEW, MATLAB, Python)
Ability to analyze and interpret test data to identify trends, failure modes, and design improvements
Experience with rapid prototyping methods, including 3D printing, machining, and off-the-shelf components
Exposure to production-intent designs, tolerancing, and manufacturability considerations
Experience using engineering project and task management tools (JIRA, Asana, or similar)
