Scrum Master IV with our large power and utilities client in Charlotte, NC. This is a 12-month contract with a potential for extension.
Pay: $72.00 - $82.00/hr; W2 contract, no PTO, no Benefits. ACA-compliant supplemental package available for enrollment.
Description:
As a Senior Scrum Master (Agilist), you will coach, facilitate, and optimize Agile teams to ensure the effective delivery of high-quality outcomes through implementation of Agile principles and practices that result in measurable value delivery to customers. You will work closely with team members to not only manage Agile processes but to foster a culture of continuous improvement and high performance.
With minimal supervision the candidate will:
- Lead Value Delivery: Ensure the teams are delivering value to customers consistently and with quality. Help coordinate, plan, and facilitate the work of the team(s). Utilize metrics to determine the team's predictability and ensure accountability in product delivery.
- Coach Teams: Exemplify Servant Leadership and guide teams in self-organization, cross-functionality, and Agile best practices. Guide team maturity by introducing new concepts and disciplines for value delivery. Mentor and coach Team members, promote Agile thinking/mindset, ensure adherence to the maturity of defined process.
- Continuous Improvement: Encourage a culture of continuous improvement by identifying areas for process enhancement and implementing solutions. Conduct team maturity assessments and maintain continuous improvement roadmap.
- Support Product Owners: Partner with the Product Owner to lead the team. Maintains the product backlog in partnership with the Product Owner and Team ensuring clear communication of product goals and a prioritized product roadmap.
- Promote Agile Practices: Educate teams and stakeholders on Agile methodologies, including Scrum, Kanban and any other methodology or Agile scaling framework that the team might use. Ensure the Team is fully functional and productive, shielding them from external distractions. Ensure artifact quality.
- Facilitate Agile Events: Lead daily stand-ups, sprint planning, product backlog refinement, sprint reviews/demos, big room planning (or Product Increment planning) and retrospectives to gather information necessary to assess team health, productivity, and opportunities for optimization.
- Data-Driven Decisions: Provide metrics to support data-driven decision making to deliver value. Analyze the team's performance metrics, such as burndown charts and velocity, and identify improvement areas.
- Impediment, Risk and Dependency Management: Proactively identifies and manages impediments, risks and dependencies until resolution.
- Stakeholder Management: Facilitate communication between the team and external stakeholders to ensure alignment and transparency.
Required Qualifications:
- Graduation from a four -year college or university or 7 years of experience in lieu of a degree.
- 5+ years of experience with product and project concepts, as well as practices.
- Work experience in addition to degree: 3+ years of Scrum Master experience.
- Scrum Master certification (CSM, PSM I or equivalent)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience moving teams and organizations from waterfall to Agile methodologies.
- Excellent written, verbal, and electronic communication skills.
- Interacts effectively with others at all levels of the organization; makes persuasive and informative presentations.
- Highly skilled at building relationships and coaching individuals who are in the early stages of shifting to an Agile mindset and way of working.
- Experience coaching value-driven backlog prioritization techniques.
- Ability to consult with teams on the Agile discipline that works for them, e.g. Scrum, Kanban, etc.
- Passion for problem-solving.
- Ability to take on multiple efforts of varying complexity.
- Possesses a growth (learner) mindset. Is naturally curious to learn more and applies lessons learned from previous experiences.
