Job Description
Overview
SOSi is seeking a Database Administrator to join our team in Wiesbaden, Germany. This is a temporary position to assist with projects supporting our customer for a period of about 90 days. We are seeking a meticulous and experienced Database Administrator (DBA) to join our dynamic team. As a DBA, you will be responsible for the performance, integrity, and security of our database systems. You will also be involved in the planning and development of databases, as well as troubleshooting any issues on behalf of the users.
Essential Job Duties
- Install, configure, and maintain database systems, ensuring their optimal performance and reliability.
- Design and implement database architectures, including data models, schemas, and tables.
- Monitor database performance, identify issues, and implement solutions to ensure efficiency.
- Implement and maintain database security measures to protect data against unauthorized access and breaches.
- Perform regular backups and ensure data recovery processes are in place and tested.
- Ensure data integrity and consistency across database systems.
- Analyze query performance and optimize SQL queries to improve database efficiency.
- Regularly review and tune database parameters for optimal performance.
- Identify and resolve database performance bottlenecks.
- Provide support for database-related issues and respond to user queries in a timely manner.
- Troubleshoot and resolve database problems, including hardware, software, and network issues.
- Collaborate with development teams to resolve application-related database issues.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
- An active in scope Secret security clearance.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; OR equivalent experience.
- Minimum four years of experience as a Database Administrator or similar role.
- Extensive knowledge of database systems (e.g., Oracle, MySQL, SQL Server, PostgreSQL).
- Experience with database performance tuning and optimization.
- Strong understanding of database structures, theories, principles, and practices.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Proficiency in SQL and database management tools.
- Good communication skills and ability to work well in a team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certifications in database management (e.g., Oracle DBA, Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL) are a plus.

Work Environment
- Working conditions are normal for an office environment, with possible remote work options.
- Requires periods of non-traditional hours including consecutive nights or weekends, when necessary.
- Occasional requirement to travel.
