Who We Are

RTX Corporation is an Aerospace and Defense company that provides advanced systems and services for commercial, military and government customers worldwide. It comprises three industry-leading businesses - Collins Aerospace Systems, Pratt & Whitney, and Raytheon. Its 185,000 employees enable the company to operate at the edge of known science as they imagine and deliver solutions that push the boundaries in quantum physics, electric propulsion, directed energy, hypersonics, avionics and cybersecurity. The company, formed in 2020 through the combination of Raytheon Company and the United Technologies Corporation aerospace businesses, is headquartered in Arlington, VA.

RTX BBN Technologies is one of RTX's premier research and development centers. Our research portfolio combines the best technologies to deliver innovative, custom solutions with real-world benefit.

At RTX BBN Technologies, we invent new science by applying radical cross-disciplinary techniques to prototype systems in order to prove concept viability. This is especially evident in our Physical Systems and Sciences group, located in Cambridge, Massachusetts, where BBN's scientists and engineers are working to advance the state-of-the-art on topics ranging from secure communications (underwater and in space) to quantum cryptography and computing. BBN offers the opportunity to perform exciting and revolutionary research that solves important problems in an exciting, collaborative environment.

What You Will Do & Learn

We are seeking qualified candidates who have demonstrated the capability to lead the development of custom electronics hardware for real-time embedded systems. Your knowledge of analog and digital circuit designs will be leveraged to create custom R&D hardware. You will lead a project team designing, analyzing, and prototyping innovative multi-domain system architectures, solving challenging real-world problems like:
  • Developing real-time control system architectures to affect the performance of physical systems
  • Designing and developing custom hardware to implement sophisticated detection, classification, localization, and tracking (DCLT) algorithms against state-of-the-art threats in high-noise environments
  • Designing and developing experimental hardware for real-time sensor processing systems, quantum information systems, integrated photonic systems, and other physical sciences pursuits
  • Supporting implementation and evaluation of real time systems in realistic mission scenarios and conducting operational analysis

Qualifications You Must Have:
  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 10 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 7 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 14 years of relevant experience
  • Demonstrated leadership of end-to-end electrical engineering projects with multi-disciplinary teams
  • Experience in analog and digital circuit design used to analyze physical phenomena (e.g., acoustics, optics, vibration, electro-magnetics, etc.)
  • Experience working with high-speed serial interfaces such as Ethernet, PCIe, sFPDP, and SPI
  • Experience writing formal test procedures, designing and conducting board level tests, and proficient in the use of electronic test and measurement equipment

Qualifications We Prefer:
  • Design experience using Altera and Xilinx FPGA/CPLD
  • Experience in analog sensor interface design utilizing ICP, CVLD, Acoustic and IR transducers, including anti-aliasing/reconstruction filter design, and A/D and D/A interfacing
  • Ability to perform circuit simulation and analysis using Spice, LT Spice and MATLAB
  • Experience in low power electronics design for use in battery powered applications
  • Product certification understanding based on military and commercial standards; UL/FCC, MIL-STD-810, 461, 704
