Job Title: Business Analyst Clinical (In Patient)

Location: Remote

Job Summary:

The Business Analyst Hospital Inpatient EHR will support, analyze, and optimize inpatient clinical workflows across the hospital. This role requires strong clinical knowledge, hands-on experience with inpatient EHR systems, and the ability to collaborate closely with nursing, physicians, ancillary departments, and IT teams.

Key Responsibilities:

• Analyze, document, and optimize inpatient workflows including admissions, transfer, discharge (ADT), clinical documentation, medication administration, order management, care planning, and rounding.
• Interview clinical end users (RN, MD, NP/PA, ancillary staff) to understand pain points and workflow gaps.
• Translate clinical requirements into functional EHR specifications.
• Support configuration and optimization of Inpatient EHR modules such as:
  • Clinical Documentation
  • Medication Administration (MAR)
  • Order Sets
  • CPOE
  • Clinical Decision Support
  • Nursing Flowsheets
  • Care Plans

• Participate in system upgrades, testing, workflow validation, and integration with ancillary systems (Lab, Radiology, Pharmacy).
• Contribute to end-to-end project cycles-from discovery and requirements gathering to go-live support.
• Create workflow diagrams, functional specs, test scripts, and training materials.
• Track project milestones and ensure deliverables meet quality and clinical safety standards.
• Build strong relationships with hospital staff across units including Med/Surg, ICU, ED, Surgery, and Telemetry.
• Provide tier-2 clinical support for inpatient EHR issues.
• Develop and deliver training and competency materials for nurses, physicians, and clinical support teams.
• Ensure EHR configurations support regulatory requirements:
  • Joint Commission
  • CMS Inpatient Quality Measures
  • Medication Safety
  • Documentation Standards
• Support clinical quality initiatives by enabling accurate data capture and reporting.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN), Allied Health, Health Information Management, Health Informatics, or related clinical field.
  Master's preferred but not required.
• 5 8 years of relevant experience in inpatient clinical operations, hospital EHR systems, or clinical informatics.
• Strong understanding of hospital workflows (admissions, charting, orders, MAR, interoperability).
• Hands-on experience with an Inpatient EHR platform (Epic Inpatient, Cerner, Meditech, Allscripts Sunrise, Paragon, etc.).
• Ability to create workflow diagrams, requirements documentation, test plans, and training materials.
• Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and problem-solving skills.
