JOB DESCRIPTION

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior z/OS Operating System Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in monitoring, analyzing, && optimizing the z/OS platform including subsystems, coupling facilities, storage, infrastructure software, && business systems. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, provide technical leadership, && drive initiatives to enhance the performance, reliability, && security of our mainframe platform.
RESPONSIBILITIES

Lead performance && capacity management initiatives across complex IBM z/OS environments.
Configure, maintain, && optimize BMC AMI Ops && IBM IntelliMagic Vision for real-time monitoring, trend analysis, && predictive capacity planning.
Conduct detailed performance analysis && optimization for infrastructure && business systems to identify and resolve bottlenecks && improve overall efficiency.
Collaborate with system programmers, database administrators, application teams, && managed services providers to ensure optimal resource utilization && workload throughput.
Develop && maintain capacity models to forecast growth && support business planning.
Design && implement performance dashboards, reports, && automated alerts using IntelliMagic Vision, BMC AMI OPS, && alerting tools.
Lead root cause analysis for performance incidents && implements corrective actions.
Prepare && present performance && capacity reports to senior management && technical stakeholders.
Provide technical guidance && mentorship to junior engineers, fostering a culture of learning && continuous improvement within the IT organization.
Stay up to date with new technologies, trends, && best practices in mainframe systems, && proactively recommend && implement relevant updates && improvements.

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related experience.
Extensive experience (10+ years) monitoring, analyzing, && optimizing the mainframe computing platform including storage, DB2, CICS, IMS/DB, IMS/TM, MQ, Parallel Sysplex && business systems.
Experience in capacity planning, trend analysis, && forecasting for large-scale mainframe environments.
Proven experience configuring, managing, && leveraging BMC AMI Ops, IBM IntelliMagic Vision, SMF and RMF.
Demonstrated expertise in Workload Manager (WLM) policies && system tuning parameters.
Experience providing technical leadership for managed service providers && offshore support teams.
Excellent problem-solving skills && the ability to troubleshoot and analyze complex issues.
Effective communication && collaboration skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts to both technical && non-technical stakeholders.
Proven leadership abilities, including experience leading technical projects && mentoring junior team members.

Additional Requirements:

Certifications in relevant technologies are a plus.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Willingness to stay updated on emerging technologies && industry trends.
Availability for occasional off-hours support as needed.
