Job Details

Modern Technology Solutions Inc. (MTSI) is seeking a Systems Engineer with Sensors and Radar experience to provide Systems Engineering, Integration, & Test (SEIT) support to the United States Space Force (USSF) Operational Command and Control (C2) Acquisition Delta responsible for developing software and the supporting architecture for the organize, understand, plan, decide, direct, and monitor capabilities within the C2 Joint Capability Areas (JCAs). The position is located in Colorado Springs, CO.

Job responsibilities will include, but may not be limited to:
Helping drive end-to-end SoS-level engineering and integration analysis for assigned Capability, in coordination w/Portfolio, to yield improved capability for users.
Liaising and performing cross-cutting analyses of various hardware/virtual sensors being developed and delivered to unique customers.
Developing Mission Capability Implementation Maps that support the portfolio's Capabilities Roadmap.
Managing systems engineering activities throughout the lifecycle of a sensor system, from initial concept and requirements definition to implementation, testing, and deployment.
Developing customer requirements and architecture risk analysis assessments.
Developing relevant systems lifecycle processes and procedures to support existing and new sensor programs.
Engaging across multiple stakeholders, consisting of but not limited to cybersecurity, engineering, and test teams, including both Government and industry.
Identifying, capturing, and tracking capabilities and requirements relationships and inter-dependencies across the enterprise, and providing recommendations based on analysis and systems engineering best practices.
Providing sensor systems expertise supporting proposed technical baseline changes in areas such as capabilities development document (CDD) and mission impact analysis, interdependency impacts, prioritization, and implementation plans.
Supporting the development and maintenance of integration roadmap artifacts, and capturing enterprise-wide program's key events and integration/test activities to aid in communications and decision making.
Supporting the development of DoDAF viewpoints and models.
Supporting integration activities and discussions that extend beyond the C2 Acquisition Delta (i.e., NRO, MDA, DAFRCO, SpRCO, SpOC Mission Area Teams, etc.).
Providing technical expertise and systems integration support to customers.
Performing systems engineering and program management functions in support of major reviews, technical evaluations, and requirements verification.

Required Experience:
Minimum 5 years of relevant DoD/IC or relevant industry work experience.
Minimum 8 years of systems engineering experience.
Experience working specifically on a Systems Engineering, Integration and Test (SEIT) or Systems Engineering and Technical Assistance (SETA) contract.
Understand high-level system of systems (SoS) architecture and data integration with the enterprise.
Demonstrated experience with database management tools (DOORS, Access, Jira, Confluence, SQL).
Experience with aspects of systems engineering such as requirements elicitation, analysis, derivation and traceability, functional analysis and allocation, WBS, trade studies, modeling and simulation, metrics, risk management, integration and test, verification and validation.
Extremely motivated individual who is a self-starter and works well in a fast-paced team environment.
Strong interpersonal skills to enable working, interfacing, and interrelating with diverse personnel and dynamic teams.
Excellent analytical and organizational skills, specifically attention to detail, along with effective time and project management.
Experience with presenting and communicating technical data to various audiences (government and leadership audience experience preferred).
Willingness to mentor colleagues.

Desired Experience:
Experience working with DoD or IC acquisition organizations.
Experience working with Space Systems Command (SSC).
Experience with UML/SysML modeling languages and DoDAF/UAF frameworks.
Experience with programming languages and tools used for the simulation of sensors (e.g., MATLAB/Simulink, Python, C/C++, etc.).
Familiarity with signal processing and data acquisition techniques.
Experience with test equipment (e.g., oscilloscope, meters, etc.).
Understand different sensor modalities (e.g., electromagnetic, acoustic, mechanical, etc.).
Experience in the implementation and management of Sensor Systems.

Education Requirements:
B.S. in engineering, mathematics, physics, or related scientific discipline (required).
M.S. in engineering, mathematics, physics, or related scientific discipline (highly desired).

Security Clearance Level Required:
An active TS/SCI security clearance is required to start. (At least 2 years of TS/SCI experience).
U.S. Citizenship is required for this position.

Location / Travel Requirements:
  • Place of work is the Garden of the Gods, Colorado Springs, CO. This role is hybrid (on-site/telework).
  • May require travel up to 20% of the time within the continental United States.

The pay range for this position in Colorado is $135,000/year to $165,000/year; however, base pay offered may vary depending on established government contract ranges, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience, and other factors. MTSI also offers a full range of medical, financial, and other benefits, dependent on the position offered. Base pay information is based on market location.
