BG Staffing is currently searching for a Sr. Network Engineer for our client.
Must be in the Baltimore area. Position requires work onsite 5 days a week.
JOB DESCRIPTION
The Network Engineer will be responsible for designing, implementing, and supporting secure network infrastructure in a large enterprise environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Research, design, and implement security solutions for network infrastructure
Engineer network solutions for new and existing systems
Provide day-to-day network engineering and operational support
Apply advanced technical principles, theories, and concepts to complex environments
Solve complex technical problems and deliver innovative solutions
Collaborate with highly experienced and technical resources

Required Skills
Foundation for Success (Basic Qualifications)
7+ years of experience designing, configuring, managing, maintaining, and troubleshooting switching and routing protocols in large enterprise networks (5,000+ nodes)
7+ years of experience configuring and managing load balancers, switches, and routers
5+ years of experience with firewall technologies, particularly Palo Alto
7+ years of experience with network monitoring and IPAM tools (e.g., NetFlow)
7+ years of physical communications troubleshooting experience, including cabling, signaling analyzers, packet capture, and traffic analysis
5+ years of experience with Cisco IOS and Cisco Nexus operating systems
Experience with WAN optimization tools such as Riverbed and packet analysis tools like Wireshark
3+ years of experience with high-level scripting languages (e.g., Python or Perl)
2+ years of experience using Cisco Prime
Advanced experience architecting, designing, deploying, and operating:
DNS/IPAM
Firewalls
Network Access Control (NAC)
Load balancing
DDoS mitigation
Network tapping/sniffing infrastructure
NTP
Advanced knowledge of WAN, LAN, TCP/IP, VPN, and Ethernet technologies
Extensive knowledge of routing protocols including EIGRP, BGP4, RIP, OSPF, VPLS, and MPLS
Active Cisco CCNP certification (or higher)
Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance (contract requirement)
Most Important Skills
Experience implementing IPv6 (SLAAC and DHCPv6)
Experience with Gigamon and Dynatrace
Experience configuring Zero Trust network architectures
Strong understanding of internetworking, including security, routing, switching, SAN, and application networking
Experience with Microsoft Server and Linux administration
Advanced expertise in Linux command-line environments
Experience working with server hardware (Dell, HP, Cisco UCS)
Experience with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware)
Experience documenting network environments, including switching/routing equipment, IP-addressable devices, and cabling interconnects
Ability to produce clear operational documentation following industry best practices
Experience using MS Visio and Microsoft Project
Desired Skills
Active Cisco CCIE or advanced CCNP certification
Experience developing and managing automation scripts for Network as a Service (SDN, load balancers, firewalls, etc.)
Experience creating best-practice project plans, engineering scripts, and performance management documentation
Prior Federal Government experience
Self-starter with high motivation and adaptability in a dynamic work environment
Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities
Knowledge of relational databases and the ability to construct and troubleshoot SQL queries
EDUCATION
Bachelor’s degree with 7+ years of relevant experience
