We have an exciting and rewarding opportunity for experienced software engineers to contribute your skills in enabling enterprise-wide content discovery.
As a Software Engineer III at JPMorgan Chase within the Employee Platforms, Enterprise Search team, you will be instrumental in designing and implementing the firm's next-generation search capabilities. Your role will involve developing scalable backend systems to enhance enterprise-wide content discoverability, allowing users to access relevant insights across web, app, and chat platforms. By collaborating closely with product, data, and design teams, you will contribute to improving content rank relevancy, optimizing search performance, and integrating AI-promoten insights and tuning.

Job responsibilities
- Design and develop backend services and APIs for enterprise search applications using Java, Python, and Spring Boot.
- Build and deploy cloud-native solutions leveraging AWS, Terraform, and containerization best practices to ensure scalability and resilience.
- Executes software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting with ability to think beyond routine or conventional approaches to build solutions or break down technical problems
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement search strategies that optimize crawl, rank, and indexation pipelines.Contribute to search tuning and relevancy improvements, incorporating ranking algorithms, metadata enrichment, and semantic search techniques.
- Integrate data extraction and analytics capabilities to deliver actionable insights and improve user experience.
- Ensure secure and high-quality production code, system reliability, maintainability, and performance through code reviews, automation, and adherence to best engineering practices.
- Participate in technical design discussions and propose innovative solutions aligned with enterprise architecture and governance standards.
- Produces architecture and design artifacts for complex applications while being accountable for ensuring design constraints are met by software code development
- Proactively identifies hidden problems and patterns in data and uses these insights to drive improvements to coding hygiene and system architecture
- Contributes to software engineering communities of practice and events that explore new and emerging technologies
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 3+ years applied experience
- Hands on experience in backend engineering in large-scale, distributed systems.
- Proficiency in Java, Python, and Spring Boot for backend service development.
- Strong experience with AWS cloud services (Lambda, EKS, S3, ECS, etc.) and Terraform for infrastructure as code.
- Experience with search technologies (ElasticSearch, OpenSearch, Solr, or similar).
- Deep understanding of API design, microservices architecture, and event-driven systems.
- Familiarity with containerization (Docker/Kubernetes), and observability tools.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to translate business needs into scalable technical solutions.
- Hands-on practical experience in system design, application development, testing, and operational stability
- Experience in developing, debugging, and maintaining code in a large corporate environment with one or more modern programming languages and database querying languages
- Solid understanding of DevSecOps processes such as CI/CD, Application Resiliency, and Security
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Experience with Large Language Models (LLM)-based search solutions, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), or semantic search models. Understanding of SEO principles, ranking models, and user behavior analytics in search contexts.
- Working knowledge of data processing and metadata extraction pipelines.
- Prior experience in a regulated enterprise environment (financial services or similar) a plus.
- Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
