Financial Coordinator
The Financial Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the financial portfolio and related processes, ensuring accuracy and compliance. Planview experience is mandatory; all financials inclusive of operation activities, project activities, planned work, purchases, accruals and re-accruals are loaded and tracked in Planview. This role focuses on quality control, financial precision, and facilitating financial review meetings, including providing strategic insights to stakeholders. The Financial Coordinator collaborates with Project Managers (PMs) and project coordinators to maintain high standards in financial reporting while driving accountability and process improvement.
Responsibilities:
Quality Control: Review and validate financial data (budgets, actuals, forecasts) entered by PMs in Planview to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with organizational standards.
Financial Review Meetings: Schedule and facilitate weekly financial meetings with PMs, asking critical questions to assess project financial health, including reasons for projection variances and mitigation plans.
Oversight and Guidance: Provide feedback to PMs and project coordinators on Planview usage, ensuring adherence to the organizations financial process and addressing discrepancies promptly.
Reporting to stakeholders: Aggregate financial data and insights from Planview and meetings to prepare monthly reports, highlighting risks, trends, and mitigation strategies.
Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to enhance or automate the financial process based on meeting outcomes, data quality metrics, and PM feedback, collaborating with stakeholders to implement changes.
Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with PMs, project coordinators, and leadership to align financial processes with organizational goals and project deliverables.
Financial knowledge: Deep understanding of project projections, accruals, invoicing, financial tracking, and procurement processes to ensure accurate oversight and effective questioning during financial reviews.
Demand Planning: Ability to schedule meetings to align with project deadlines and ensure the Planview backlog is updated with new projects to maintain an accurate project pipeline.
Qualifications:
5+ years in financial coordination, project management, or a related role.
3+ years with Planview or similar project/portfolio management tools preferred.
Proven track record in financial oversight, quality control, or process improvement.
Strong analytical skills to assess financial data and identify variances.
Excellent communication and facilitation skills for leading meetings and asking critical questions.
Proficiency in Planview, advanced knowledge in leveraging Microsoft Excel, experience with modeling financial reports in PowerBI or Tableau are a plus.
Ability to synthesize complex financial information into clear, actionable reports for leadership.
Detail-oriented with a focus on quality control and process adherence. Education:
Associate s or Bachelor s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Project Management, or a related field.
