Position Summary

As a Focused Ion Beam (FIB) engineer, you'll be responsible for performing high-level operation on our Dual Beam FIB instruments for the purpose of advanced TEM analysis sample preparation and innovative FIB methodologies. Must have a good working knowledge of the instrumentation and its parameters in order to optimize usage and efficiency.
Additional function of this position include providing peer training the help the team improve quality and efficiency, performing basic tool maintenance, collaborates closely with Analysis and FAB Engineering staff to assist in solving complex structural and failure analysis challenges on state-of-the-art technologies and materials, and so on.

Here's What You'll Be Responsible For:

  • Prepare sophisticated TEM lamella samples using dual beam FIB to support TEM analysis
  • Development of BKM for better quality and efficiency
  • Development of new methodology for advanced TEM analysis and/or challenging materials
  • Responsible for project management initiatives with the aim of advancement of team capabilities and analytical work improvements, to include report writing and summaries
  • Perform level appropriate tool maintenance to ensure optimal FIB working conditions
  • Assist in determination of root causes through the use of best practices analysis solutions
  • Train and mentor members of our analysis team
  • Attend conferences and workshops with the intent of knowledge sharing and recommendations related to FIB analytical trends

Skills and Qualifications

Education, Training, Certification(s) and Minimum # Years Required:
  • B.S. and above in Materials Science, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Physics, Chemical Engineering or closely related discipline.
  • More than 5 years of hands-on FIB experience.
  • Previous experience in a SEM, TEM or physical failure analysis laboratory is a plus.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Software, Tools:
  • Hands-on experience with Dual Beam FIB instrument operation and lamella sample preparation.
  • Knowledge of semiconductor processes, with a solid background on materials physics and chemistry.
  • Understanding or expertise in additional analysis techniques: SEM, TEM analysis, Wafer Prep capping.
  • Strong ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with all levels of employees, contractors and management.
  • The candidate will be required to interact with engineering groups for technique elaboration and interpretation of results.
  • Experience in leading teams. Demonstrates good organizational and time management skills.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Applications.

The current base salary range for this role is between $70,480 - $179,090. Individual base pay rates will depend on factors including duties, work location, education, skills, qualifications and experience. Total compensation for this position will include a competitive benefits package and may include participation in company incentive compensation programs, which are based on factors to include organizational and individual performance.
