Software/Firmware Developer

Introduction:

804 Technology is currently seeking a Software/Firmware Developer to join our team in Johnson City, TN. The candidate will work as part of the Firmware/Software team, designing and developing software and unit tests, reviewing process and design documents, and performing code reviews for automation products. This position will focus primarily on Functional Safety projects within the Research & Development organization.

Responsibilities:

• Perform complex software design and development tasks.
• Design subsystems.
• Participate in requirement and design reviews.
• Participate in code reviews of project software.
• Design and implement unit tests.
• Understand standards, specifications, and other documents to implement assigned tasks.
• Resolve technical issues independently, including issue analysis and report preparation.
• Implement quality and process improvements.
• Participate in the creation of project schedules and adhere to those schedules.

Requirements:

• Education: A Bachelor's in Computer Science is preferred. A BS in Computer or Electrical Engineering with demonstrated software design and development knowledge is acceptable. Candidates pursuing such degrees will also be considered.
• 0-3 years of experience in software development.
• Proficiency in the C# or JAVA programming language.
• Understanding of object-oriented design methodologies.
• Self-motivated and results-oriented with strong problem-solving skills.
• Experience with Design Patterns.
• Demonstrates good interpersonal, communication, and teamwork skills.

Preferred Skills:

• Proficiency with NUnit or JUnit.
• Proficiency with XML.
• Familiarity with Industrial Automation control systems, e.g., PLCs, and engineering systems like Siemens TIA Portal - including Fundamental LAD and SCL language programming.
